In my experience most people will conflate simply being wrong with being talked down to regardless of how you present your argument and your attitude in general

I try my best to always keep a level head and explain my POV and support my stance with sound reason. Doesn’t matter tho. People get defensive and get mad.

To answer your question tho no I don’t think they should act that way. Unless the other party is being a complete jackass and needs to be taken down a peg

In today’s day and age especially there is no such thing as a civil argument or even a disagreement. I think when the personal attacks come out you lose me with that and resort to childish tactics like that.

Neither side should be doing that no matter how right one person might be. But it is unfortunately cool to just dunk on and embarrass people. Part of the reason why I don’t even bother responding to people online because it devolves into something non productive. Even going there a couple times just realizing afterwards it is completely pointless and wasted time.

I’d rather walk away from something knowing it was at least productive than s*** throwing at each other. I doubt it will ever change because getting everybody else on your side after you clown somebody solidifies your argument winning. Not all the time but in a good majority of the time. It is so easy to degrade somebody and gets laughs and I can’t see that changing anytime soon.
