doing a soul crushing 9-5 hybrid right now, i hate the job and it's all the same bullshit out there when i look for others

zapped off energy after work can't even go to gym

just want to redo uni and pick a program with a different major can't do that but want to go back to school for some program or somethin but i'm pushing 30 and saving for a wedding

you are truly f***ed once you grad

Yeah fr this s*** is ass

  • Jun 8, 2023

OP spend as much time on your passions as possible during college. There is way less free time post grad (other than 2020 during lockdown that s*** was bliss )

I was a marketing degree and had trouble finding anything for two years after school until I ended up just going to an insurance agency. Automation is eliminating a lot of marketing positions its a tough field rn

Always appreciate what you have and if you don’t like it, see what you can do with what’s available to you to change it

There’s people that would kill to be at uni
There’s people that would kill to even have a s***ty 9-5

    • I’m sure that there’s ppl who we’ve been successful with a lib arts degree
    • Also you’d be surprised the number of ppl who did one thing in uni and ended up successful in whole another field

My advice would be finish your degree, a bad degree is 10x better than no degree.
By your last semester start planning it out: which field im interested in? Can i be successful here? Who in X field can i talk to for advice?

the most free I've ever been to pursue a passion was being single, no b**** to moan n groan to me, no rules. i would str8 up come home from a long 12 hour shift, shower and hop on the craft.

now i gotta worry bout TALKING

stay single OP, if u wanna be srs bout sumn, BE SINGLE and do whatever u wan do

i feel this hard, i think that getting into relationships (just for the sake of not being alone) and having children (at least having them too early/before you can actually aford to raise them) are the main mistakes that ruin peoples lives

as long as you dont have a liberal arts degree, i would say stay in school just to show employers you finished school
but if you are going to school for liberal arts you might as well drop out and go on youtube for 5 hours a day, youll learn more that way

The whole "liberal arts degree bad and useless" thing is a dumb meme based on nonsense

Not really lmao aint no one looking to hire a lib arts graduate

Psychology, Social Work, Philosophy, Communications, Biology, Criminal Justice, Chemistry, Economics, Political Science, Physics, English, Graphic & Interactive Design, Astronomy, Geology, Language...

All of these are liberal arts majors and a degree in any will say "Bachelor of Arts (major)". All of them are also very solid choices for a career path or continuing education. Several of them are applicable and highly desired across multiple major job fields.

"Liberal arts is useless" is something said by children, angry dumb internet people, and people who have no idea what fields of study fall under Liberal Arts. I know in a lot of losers' brains they probably see the word "liberal arts" and think it must just be like actual art stuff or musical theater or something else with no real-world application, when it's mostly the opposite.

There’s like 3 ppl itt, who’ve actually graduated, telling you there is

Is it hard to find one? Probably but it’s hard to find a job in any field

You already disqualifying yourself before even starting, cmon man

  • Jun 10, 2023

People say college is a scam because degrees like art history don’t mean s*** in the real world, but you have to use your common sense. If you come from money or got connections, you can afford to spend thousands on a degree like that. Otherwise you need to be in a field like finance or STEM if you want your degree to equal a well paying job

I believe in you op. For some reason I think you’d be a great artist and I’m sure you have some talent

It’s tough balancing those ambitions with the real life pressures but I would say go for it

It’s summer right, idk if you’re in summer classes but maybe take this time to explore your passions and really try to make some version of your vision. Whatever you decide to do as school/work, just try to really do that music/art s*** to the fullest whenever you have the time and energy

I know it’s cliche but you don’t want to have regrets about not pursuing it to whatever extent you can. I’m in a similar boat and my “real life”/financial status could be a lot better but I know I’m not going to have major regrets because I know my purpose

That said being broke sucks so do what you gotta do. You got this

Edit and I’m sure you’ve already considered this but if there’s classes or programs more related to your passions or things you want to learn there I would look into that, if you’re really feeling like this degree ain’t it

I fl like u cld look into jobs at a music org or record company tbh

    No technical skills required
Still in the music category even if youre not creating it

  • Jun 10, 2023

@op i feel u op, in a weird limbo rn, tryna get a career in IT just because thats what I know, but my true yearning is for making beats

thing with the latter tho is that i kinda gave up on it because i felt like i wasnt gonna be good enough, i shouldnt feel that way

im mor than halfway through college and im only now realizing that my degree is bullshit and that i have no interest in any of my classes or anything im doing in school

my passion is art. i want to produce music, rap, make films, thats the only thing that makes me happy in life is making s*** and sharing it with others

except needless to say it is very difficult to make a living off of that without serious luck, talent, or connections all of which im lacking

im too far in both time and money wise majors and i have literally zero interest in any of the profitable majors like CS, STEM, etc. it literally feels like im in college for no reason lmao s***s a scam

Finish school and get a day job and fund your dreams with that. As a nigga who probably made a variation of this thread on here in the past lol

Even moreso if you’re almost done and gonna graduate on time.

The only thing you’ll do by dropping out (if you don’t have a source of income to not have to get a job) is lock yourself into bullshit jobs and/or have to go take some IT course/certificate or some s*** to make up for not having a degree when you was already tired of being in school.

College at this point is just a voucher to get a decent job lol. If you almost done might as well go thru with it

  • me in 2020 so i started a clothing brand; something i always had interest in
