I honestly don't know much but Im trying to give up what I'm sure us wrong and let God guide me
Also sharing the fruits with who I can
I’ve quit listening to music for a month before.
Basically because I felt like I always needed some background noise or I’m feeling uncomfortable and that prevented me from sitting in complete silence and thinking clearly.
The biggest push was that my tinnitus got to a harsh level. I used to go to bed with that ringing killing my head. So I went for a month without pressing play on a song but then I got back to music when some good albums dropped like DONDA and CLB.
music detox
So that’s why Dre never released it he been trying to warn us about the dangers of music this whole time but knew the industry wouldn’t let him say that so he tried to leave us a clue
music definitely has a lot of power over us and should be listened to with purpose and intent instead of mindlessly putting it on (bc it will still affect your mood and personhood)
but to completely excise it is antihuman
with that being said i respect that OP identifies it as dangerous because worldly, perhaps sacrality is inherently "antihuman"
@op much love. I’ve been moderating my music intake for years now, and it’s improved my quality of life immensely.

There is no such thing as an "average attention span" and there is absolutely no scientific evidence that backs that this thing that isn't even quantifiable has gotten shorter
the amount of time you can spend focusing on a single task without a reward is lowered by heavy internet use. thats what I meant
this seems anecdotally pretty obvious to me so I can't tell if you're disagreeing with the fact that I used the phrase "attention span" (which I agree is a pretty nebulous thing that can't necessarily be measured) or if you're disagreeing with my broader point
if its the latter, yes there is evidence to support this and I can link it if you want
no it doesnt
again.
dopamine is important in ur reward system. but that reward system is located in the frontal lobe and prefrontal cortex, not the auditory cortex.
What your talking about, the lack of attention and stuff, is actually a symptom of LOW dopamine production. ADHD is actually just this, a genetically low production of dopamine in the brain. In other words, if music was decreasing dopamine production then you might have a point.
The study u linked says that if anything there is a POSITIVE correlation between dopamine production and listening to music. In other words, the OPPOSITE of what you would expect to see if music was actually detrimental to ur ability to focus.
come on dude THINK about what you are saying for a second. You really believe MUSIC has made your life WORSE?
you know how heroine or some other hard d*** floods your reward system right. and if you keep using those hard d****, you need more and more in order to reach the same baseline of pleasure?
so similarly, when you have instant access to quick rewards via the internet, you start needing a constant stream of them in order to go about your day
thats why you see people who can't study without listening to music or tabbing onto social media every five seconds, you get what i'm saying?

look man what ur saying kinda makes sense logically but that doesnt mean it's actually happening.
music operates on a different part of ur brain than studying or focusing or whatever, and that's the truth.
Sure, instant access to rewards on the internet might affect attention span. BUT crucially, music is not included in this. Again, music works on a different part of the brain. Sorry, ur just wrong.

my guy you literally just agreed that music releases dopamine and thus affects your reward system like a post ago
but ok we can agree to disagree
Everything in moderation
