I used to listen to what I strictly defined as "real hip hop" going through my Eminem phase until I got a used PS3 that had Drake Take Care and So Far Gone and IANAHB2 downloaded on it and I just gave it a chance, and it was my intro to mainstream music. Man those were good times, I can't imagine what my taste would be like if my mom hadn't be me that specific PS3.

Second hand PS3?
nah THUG 2 had a bunch of good af punk/pop punk music
This hit different on THUG 2
Tony Hawk and GTA put me into so many artists and songs
Vice City put a lil nigga into disco and 80s pop
This is why y’all not qualified to debate with me
I like hip-hop because my black mother drove me around in the car listening to it since the day I was born
Wow dude ur so qualified
Not for nothing, one of these soundtracks made me circle (ha!) back to the Germs. I heard “Forming” and “No God” and didn’t really care until I heard the album version of “Lexicon Devil” in I think the first THUG game?
Also didn’t give a s*** about Sublime until I heard this song in the same game…
… but then later realized that I probably liked it so much because it’s a rip-off of this NOFX song I knew:
In THUG 2 I got out on to this song and I still play it sometimes
Here’s the video tho
Uh oh 😰 it’s feeling too nostalgic in here. My brain is going to a time that I miss that I can’t get back to. I don’t like this feeling. But at the same time it’s comforting. Knowing I can never experience those moments of my life again saddens me though.
nice
