There’s a distinct difference in music quality and creativity between 1980 to 1990 and 1990 to 2000

Even 2000-2010 but it seems like we hit a peak in the mid 2010’s and music hasn’t change much over the decade

    Idk I’m high

There’s also so many underground scenes now it’s kinda hard to say that but overall a lot of the s*** released today would’ve fit right in back then mainstream and underground

Never been a time like that

Honestly s*** was mostly the same with random songs going viral Just felt like everybody had a good crew around them back then and if one dropped off another popped up. Now it's some every man for himself s***.

Father had Look at Wrist , Makonnen blew up, OG MACO had s*** dropping then Carti came around countless other s*** like 21 savage, KEY!

Just like Florida with X and Ski Mask, Pump, Purp, and that extended universe

Now its like everybody gets grabbed from wherever they're at and brought into some other scene.

this dude right here gets it. capitalism destroying community and putting ruthless individualism above all else is part of it i think. most crews in hip hop don’t last at all anymore

Man I remember going down to Atlanta with a homie that was on this show and meeting most of Awful Records. Father wasn't even "Father" yet lol.

They were making some noise but at the time everybody kinda had a crew that was making noise online. Hung out with some of them for a few days and kept in touch with a lot of ATL peeps after that. Kept hearing about this Makonnen dude from everybody. The way the next year went for Awful Records and Makonnen is still crazy to me. Really opened my eyes seeing it first hand.

Crazy that all these years later Faye Webster, Zack Fox, and Carti are the biggest things that came out of that circle.

Keith Charles was their best member. They had serious talent

This brings me back. I miss the beats from this era. Just looking at the producers on this is like a time machine: peak Metro, TM88, Sonny, FKI

We should really discuss 2010s prod, we have witnessed some amazing talent and imho it is underappreciated

sonny and fki slept on lowkeyy

Yep Keith was on a whole other level. Really like music he’s been putting out seems like he’s taking it slow trying to figure out his lane currently but dude has some of the best rap music being released back then.
