Hip hop has been dead since the advent of streaming arguably
If we are too quiet when artist are making less than a penny per stream how can we be surprised it becomes this?
When streams is how they make money not the quality of the actual content
it isn't about "damn you made a meaningful concept album that made me cry you get more money"
its about streams.
@Melz response?
That 13:30 onwards is exactly why niggas was mad about that panel.
The white/white adjacent demographic of this site don’t understand that kinda anger tho.

I understand the anger to be clear I just dont think its constructive to give everything energy
same as I tune out vlad and no jumper
I think a lot of rappers do speak to everything you're saying. They just aren't the trendiest, they aren't vying for a share in the attention economy, and they don't have the machine behind them. They get called dusty and everyone agrees and makes them "uncool" as if art was just commerce.
I'm gonna listen to and spread the word about Doechii and try my best to ignore Ian. Outside of this dead forum where we can vent about this s*** without boosting it ofc. Tyler should've never said a word. The outrage is marketing.
its a double edged sword because we aren't just black culture when many black people pride themselves and know we are THE CULTURE
the most sought after culture and the way EVERYONE TALKS and openly doing so on social media

The thing is @op is exactly the person that exclusively highlights, gives interviews, and shine to those people within black culture consistently.
YNS the only reason I even heard a MIKE interview.
The nigga started off the video singing Little Deer
It’s just so much that 1 or a few niggas can do when you up against a machine

Tyler never said a name idc about implication. Bu intentionally saw the opportunity to muddy the words of a black man a la j edgar hoover and for that, that nigga is #NotLikeUs
But to be clear we are literally "oldheads"
If we are 30 and have been listening to rap for 16-18 years and we are speaking to a 19 year old
we have been listening to rap or downloading music from limewire, to myspace to cds, to burning cds
for the entire length of their existence

I will shoot you
As you said, YNS does reach out and talk to artists who coalesce with his worldview. He also works with Complex who don't do that. They have to lock onto whatever is popular to stay afloat. You have to do that for the attention economy. That's the issue. His personal principles are never going to outpace these hot take yes men. There's hardly any institutional media left either. Podcast clips and streamers run rap
Tyler gave props to DJ Quik and acted like them not reporting that was the issue. I'm sure Ian likes lots of rappers we all like. Who is Tyler positively supporting these days that speaks to this generation? Teezo Touchdown? Tyler himself has so many fans who "grew out of rap" it's hard to count. And the people he brought into rap were never here to stay.
You can't change anything with outrage. Your attention is the thing driving trends and you have to direct it to s*** you like. And I haven't written this much about an album I like in a while. It's very hard to do. YNS is good at that tho. He's def the change he wishes to see in the world.
Tyler is not. He wears fashion brands all the time I'm sure. He's gotta do the same publicity for the rappers he thinks represent what he likes.
