You making it sound like Transformers 2
I haven't seen that movie in ages, but iirc what I saw of this movie was just as bad if not worse

Michael Bay had an underaged Megan Fox play a stripper in Bad Boyz. He a different kind of problematic.
you watched 15 minutes bro, you shouldn’t have made this thread
Watch the first 15 minutes and tell me I'm wrong
Made the thread because I haven't seen any conversation on it and I was hoping someone could share their own thoughts or interpretation.
i really don’t think it’s that deep imo. it’s tom and jerry not some deep film with social critiques
The new Tom & Jerry film is problematic af and here’s why:
This was initially what I had, but I knew people were gonna come for me for not having watched the whole thing.
Just really couldn't make it any further

no man, that’s where you got it wrong buddy
Tom & Jerry is a extremely layered critique on how society operates in this day and age
Jerry is a representative of the common working man while Tom is a representative of the government’s constant struggle to really snuff out society... in the end of the movie (i haven’t seen it but i assume) the message of the movie is that they must get along and need each other in order to maintain the status quo, however they constantly forget that (due to repressing the trauma they cause each other) and continue the cat and mouse chase.

i can see that, but i don’t think that’s what the movie is going for, especially in the context of this thread
i seriously think it’s just a quick nostalgic cash grab

lol dude i’m joking
it’s such a deep take it had me convinced
😂 i half assed it. I think if you take a deeper look it’s nonsensical
imagine watching a movie just to see if there are any black people in it
You're missing the point fam. Theres plenty of movies without black people. But when the only black actors you have are hotel service workers and voice actors portraying stereotypical 'dumb gang members', you don't think that reinforces some negative perceptions?

Un-ironically though you are right.
DoubleToasted talked about this on their review of the new Tom & Jerry movie. They said the new movie had some problematic s*** as well, lol.
