Is ice spice a bad influence?
Beyond the obvious “Ye was right” convo, I feel there might be a discussion here about today’s pop culture. Any thoughts?
Ice spice looks so young that I think kids can really identify with her, as Mal said, she looks like an emoji or a character, she’s a star for the iPad kid era
But when you couple that with her extreme sexualization, it’s kinda like, what message is being pushed to the youth here? And is it by design?
Wanna see some serious answers itt
ice spice doesnt make music for kids. if kids choose to consume it thats up to the parent

also kids have access to tiktok, youtube, etc. theres muuuuuuch worse to be found there and on the INTERNET
Was horrified when my sis 14 years younger than me played WAP and montero on the piano (she was trollin heavy) but it is what it is
Mfs really been having a conversation about a rapper hanging out with Kim, north and them and them making TikTok’s. S*** is crazy.

Parental responsibility is a factor of course
But let’s be f***ing real
Kids are on tiktok. Ice spice looks young as hell and being pushed to that demographic. Ice spice does make music for kids… it just has adult content. Which is kind of the weird part.
Like we weren’t in the 5th grade saying slob on my knob like corn on the cob and taking b****es to the candy shop or in 8th grade on some lick me like a lollipop type s***. Mfs blow me with their fake outrage lol.
in general parenting is harder and harder given the open access of the internet and technology, but it's not impossible. at the end of the day, it's still parents' job to restrict their kids' access and regulate what their kids see (or if they see something they shouldn't, intervene appropriately). there's valid concerns about platforms not having good enough controls for kids, but like, acting like heavily sexualized media or figures is something new - even in terms of accessibility - is misguided.
I mean Foxy Brown was active in, what, the 90s? That was 30 years ago, and it's not like she was some niche artist confined only to rap fanatics - she was going platinum, even w/o today's internet, exposure to her (or similar acts/media) would have been easy.
If kids are ultimately replicating what they see in media, which seems to be the main critique here given North's age (which is 100% a valid concern since it's weird af), it's not good but that's not really the media's fault by itself intrinsically, it's the parents. Media can be influential but ultimately parental/familial norms and values are moreso.
That all said, with people like Ice Spice, I mean, obviously when you're talking about "extreme sexualization", it's not liek it's a mistake, it's of course by design. You wouldn't be hearing about her if did everything the same way but wasn't doing any of this sexualized stuff and/or wasn't attractive. It's depressing to a degree but that's nothing new, people's entire career being based on s***appeal goes back to like, the dawn of media itself
