trap is fine they just need to be more creative w it

plenty of producers out there that make unique trap beats but people are always going to go with the mainstream sound

Yeah but I'm saying when is the marketable sound gonna change

Don’t listen to current marketable sound
If everyone stops doing it, it won’t be marketable anymore

Regardless tho, you don't think it's weird that it's the ONLY marketable sound rn?

Just looking at it not even about deriving enjoyment from it. The southern sound has been dominating since like 2005, but before 2016 it wasn't the only marketable sound

I have. Main reason why I stopped caring about trap after 2016.

Mannn the culture really used to move so much faster before the internet blew up. Now niggas can just sit in their lil playlist zones and never have to hear anything else, for better or for worse.

You can really tell the difference between beats made between 2000-2009. From sped up soul samples with clean but heavy drums to grandiose pop-influenced beats. Or from the crunchy drums and dusty samples of the early 90s to the cheesey Swizz Beatz casio cuts in 98-99.
Now we just been sitting on trap for 8+ years. It's cool to have the sound in rotation still but damn, we really haven't changed s*** up since like 2012.

It’s the bigger artists fault for feeding into it knowing damn well they can be the tastemakers if they wanted to. Drake could singlehandedly change the sound of hip hop if he took initiative but he keeps on rapping over beats with the pierre formula

Edit: and I know it’s not just Drake
