I did not like Asap's TESTING at all the first couple of listens. Especially after how great ALLA was. I listened to it again recently and it clicked. So if its someone i generally like, I may give it more of a chance later on, but if I were trying out a new person and they didn't grab me its 1 and done.

DAMN. That’s a horrible way to listen to music. 😂

    Zoomers man

depends on the artist. somebody like uzi or lil baby isnt gonna have a lot to pull from after multiple listens so one listen is enough.

If I'm already a fan of the artist or if the album is particularly hyped I'll give it a few spins. Otherwise just one these days. But I'm never delusional enough to think my takes after 1 listen are gonna be as valid as someone that spent time with the album

prob another 2 especially if its a concept album.
also depends on how much respect and appreciation I have for the artist

You hated blonde because it dropped in the Summer? See this is where I get lost. I understand thinking something is mid or just ok and then loving it. But you hated blonde and then a year later you loved it? I don’t know how you can listen to blonde and think it’s bad. Even if you don’t love it, its just hard for me to listen to good music snd think it’s bad based on a season.

i simply wanted something more uptempo. obviously Frank Ocean and any artist is allowed to make whatever
they desire but it just affected how i related with it

  • 2nd listen of naughties rnb classics go

  • Dec 24, 2020

Depends on how much I like the artist

  • Dec 24, 2020

Depends, if I’m like halfway through and nothing is hitting I’ll probably stop listening there but I’ll revisit it later if ppl keep hyping it up.

  • Dec 24, 2020

There’s also times where I can feel the magic but it hasn’t fully clicked so I keep listening

  • Dec 24, 2020

I give it 3 solid listens, each on a different day and setting. If it doesn’t stick, I drop it.

Artists I enjoy don’t make bad albums tho.

  • Dec 24, 2020

Sometimes i love an album after one listen then it has no staying power

  • Dec 24, 2020

Future always been a goat but he's a grower but lately I've been giving his s*** a one spin and done. Didn't even listen to that uzi joint jawn.

  • Dec 24, 2020

I just listen until I have no desire to listen

Usually albums that grow on me I don’t like them but still have a desire to keep giving it a try and catching onto it or I hear something from it later and give it another go and it connects

If it don’t hit on first listen, I’m giving it another spin a week later, and if it still doesn’t hit, then it doesn’t hit. I’ll probably try again down the road, but 2 full listens is where I stop.

  • Dec 24, 2020

A lot of my favorite albums were meh first listens

It’s really case-by-case. Some bad albums get multiple chances, others don’t even get a full spin

  • Dec 24, 2020

Gave MOTM3 about 6 tries and it was mid each time

  • If I don’t like anything about it by the 5th song I’m turning that s*** off.

Depending on the artist might try it again later and see if it clicks.

  • Dec 24, 2020

if it doesn't work on a late night drive then I give up

    sorry Blonde

  • Dec 24, 2020

i can tell if something is just bad or worthy of further investigation pretty immediately

I had the same revelation in op with EA
