I'm not sure why you're getting the idea that your loan would even be eligible. It would be a new loan, probably an insignificant amount for one semester (unless you go to a privatte university.. in which case you'd be taking out even more loans) and there's not much benefit here unless you're an existing student with existing loans.

First off you have to qualify for federal loans as high as 10k.

The fact that you pay out of pocket suggests that you don't qualify/ have the means to pay it off.

One of my brothers in college took out s*** tons of loans and ended up getting huge rebates every time. Would spend it on partying his ass off while racking up all this debt. We thought he was crazy

Then when he graduated he entered a program where they would pay off your student loans if you taught at lower income areas for X amount of years. Now he’s clear
