make it illegal to be mean to me
for sure
I’m just kinda hoping/expecting that true AI is gonna be so far beyond our capabilities that no one could possibly use it as a tool of capitalism
Sure, but who owns the AI?
The main argument of socialism is ownership, not - as many wrongly think - redistribution.
If the "public" at large owned and benefited from automation and AI, then unemployment rising would not be a problem at all. In fact, people would not mind losing their jobs and instead work on their passion projects, like the idea of full communism states.
But if the public does not own this technology, you can at best do bandaids like UBI and hope for a handout from the AI-owners so you can survive once your job has been automated away forever and not enough new jobs appear to pick up the slack.
Capitalism created the modern world. that's enough to prove it works even with all the s***ty things hindering it. Hong Kong went from rags to riches in 3 decades while being the most market-oriented economy in the world.
Hong Kong had some of the worst slums on the Earth and still has thousands of maids who are on the same level as slaves. Yeah, the British and the Chinese elites got rich, but not everyone. Much of the recent protests were also about having to live with skyhigh rents in small sardine boxes while barely making rent.
The densest ghetto of all time was in Hong Kong and only disappeared in the 90s because they built a park over it.
new tank by playboi carti is the new national anthem
the pledge of allegiance is flatbed freestyle

100% you’re absolutely right about what could happen with it
My hope is that the AI is smart enough to be beyond ownership and it’s just basically running the world itself
Maybe wishful thinking but something that much smarter than us is so hard to comprehend and predict
I just think banning personal automobiles outright leaves us with a ton of problems
How do people go places? We don’t have those systems in place to be able to do that
To me the easiest way to get those systems in place is using what we already have - roads - and getting to full electric car use as quick as possible so it’s carbon neutral
Electric cars aren't carbon neutral, they aren't going to be the Deus ex Machina in the fight against climate change, that's the point I'm trying to make, the personal car, is going to have a terrible environmental impact whether it runs on oil, electricity or farts. Emissions don't only come from running the darn thing. You need to make the things, you need to build infrastructure for them as well.

valid
What’s the alternative though? Work from home and bikes?

Hong Kong is the most unaffordable place to live in, in the world, it's a s*** show. And if I'm not mistaken their government is fairly authoritarian like all the other examples of libertarian types love to point to.
I'd rebuild the public transportation system from the ground up. Robust trains and subways at low to no cost for everybody
Get rid of the racist white people
Accelerate climate change efforts
Put money into helping homeless people
Mental health resources
Yeezys for all
