i'll sum it up for you
"game key cards" - pointless plastic waste that makes you download a game anyway
some "physical games" don't let you play without updating therefore a scam
"digital game cards" - scam that won't let you play games you own on two systems, if you lose one you're dependant on nintendo to allow you to play games you bought to own
once switch servers go offline you'll be stuck with games you can't play
how are we getting a deal when they are still monetizing literally every possible aspect of the gaming experience
or when our earning power hasnt grown 1:1 with inflation
or we get sold a incomplete package at full price and have to wait for 8 updates to get what we were marketed
or when they were already profitable at the previous price point and the only reason they are raising money is to be even more profitable
earning power is not a gaming issue and incomplete games should not be full price and those that are, are criticized for it
when you add in the inflation debate with dev costs and the question of what you think games are worth, and you still want it cheaper? just get a new hobby. like genuinely. times are hard it's ok
ahhhh see you're not wrong but you're expanding the scope of the argument. it IS f***ed up that we (as a collective) don't earn 2x more vs. 2005 while the value of the dollar has nearly halved. but that's not Nintendo's fault, they're not the ones dishing out your salary... (maybe brings up a good question of how much nintendo employee wages have risen since 2005)
if nintendo's costs have increased 33% since 2005, why would they not increase the cost of the game 33% to maintain their margins? they are a COMPANY, not your friend and not a non-profit
also in this particular example it's not like MKW is incomplete or ridden with micro-transactions and bs like that to unlock the full experience of the game
its not Nintendo's fault that our wages haven't grown but its also our responsibility to pay more to make sure they stay healthily in the green....
grow up and take their d*** out of your mouth lmaoo

it's your responsibility to buy w/e you want to buy with the money you have. if their costs have significantly increased, which i'm assuming they have (BC OF INFLATION), then i can understand why their prices would increase and they would not be readily willing to eat that. if you don't wanna support then just don't buy it........ it costs what it costs
the only way this argument actually goes anywhere is if there was definitive proof that nintendo's development and distribution costs have only risen some low percentage (let's say 5%) and yet they're charging 30% more for games. but i highly doubt that's true

u do realize they were plenty profitable while charging $60 for a game right?
are you Jerome Powell bro?
we are the f***ing consumers in this scenario, why are we championing anti-consumer practices
"Anti-consumer" when the price has remained the same for 3 decades
It's chickens coming home to roost
You're into sneakers right? Look at how prices of Jordans have increased over the past 4 or 5 years
Nobody's championing or celebrating it, but like it's video games bro. If you aren't willing to spend $80, there are hundreds of brilliant games out there you probably haven't played that can be bought instead while you wait for that game's price to drop

as a company their number of dollars of profit should increase as the value of each of those dollars is decreased

i fw u but you dont know what youre saying
Someone delete anti-consumer from the gamer lexicon. It is not anti-consumer to charge X price for your product.
It absolutely is, but that's besides the point

This is the crux of everything. There is NO SHORTAGE of excellent games that cost less than even $40. What the f*** even is the convo at that point

meanwhile u say nothing at all

No, it's not lol. Yall are using terms with set definitions and bending them to your will. It is not anti-consumer to charge X price for Y product in the free market. Nintendo is not attempting to shut off avenues for engagement with the medium with their pricing. That is legitimately stupid to believe. Consumers are the ones deciding the price in the first place.
