Do you live in Illinois? If you’re not from Illinois then you don’t need paperwork for your guns
I live in a state with similarly strict gun laws
I live in a state with similarly strict gun laws
Ok you can still bring your gun to Illinois without paperwork
When they let someone beat an illegal possession charge for being a non-citizen then we can talk
The charge in this case is “possession while illegal,” not “unlawful posession”
Like guns are very clearly an issue in America. It is a gun AND damn near a gun violence obsessed culture in this country. This really isn't a matter of "Illegals shouldn't be allowed to own guns!" it's more maybe we should actually try to stop making guns so easily accessible to people in general. As we have seen many times of people having easy access to guns and doing horrible things with them. I don't know why y'all are itt acting like this is some bizarre take lol
He wasn’t charged for illegal possession bro
He was charged with possession of a fire arm. Read the article I linked on the first page
Republicans are against it because the person isnt a US citizen (fair) and the judge who made the ruling was appointed by Obama.
Democrats look hypocritical as f*** imo because they are always claiming that they are for gun control and regulation yet its easier for a non citizen to get a gun than a citizen
is it actually easier for an illegal to get a gun vs an actual citizen
I agree with @Nikedufflebag and @Josuke. He does not deserve leniency because he's clearly skirting the law jumping through every legal loophole. Someone abusing the system is not indicative of the system being inherently flawed, it's impossible to take every unique scenario into account but the judge should have ruled that based on his undocumented status. He's not just a non-resident, he's unlawfully here. There are big fundamental differences between the two when it comes rights, liberties and privileges on how anything beyond that should apply to him. It's crazy that cynical people are trying to blur the line between those terms just like this judge wrongly did. By bending the law and giving in to people who exploit loopholes, you're undermining the system and make everyone less equal.

No such thing as reducing access to guns anymore. There are more guns than people in the US.
Better to look for other paths. Social adjustment, public possession laws, etc
I lean left but come on man. You can’t see the hypocrisy in this?
remember who ur talking to lol
He was charged with possession of a fire arm. Read the article I linked on the first page
He was charged for posession of a firearm while illegal. An entire different charge than “unlawful firearm possession as per whatever law in illinois”
Read the f***ing ruling bro
He should be sent to prison like I would be if I had a gun illegally in Illinois
He was arrested you dumbass
He was arrested you dumbass
And let go. Meanwhile a citizen would be sent to prison for having a gun without a license with no hope of a judge dropping his case

why do you think america has a "gun obsessed culture"
because the united states is a settler colony and the proliferation of firearms to civilians is specifically a tool to protect the settler garrison from black people, the indigenous, and the "illegal" migrants who could potentially challenge the privilege of the white majority. you can't have "gun control" because it would undermine the entire fabric of the USA.

They’d have to arrest and charge him for having a gun without a license
Which they didn’t do to this guy

You do know niggas get off of gun cases in Chicago too right?

You don’t even know our backgrounds and stories
There’s people that go through the legal process to move here and become citizens. I guess those people are suckers to you
You don’t even know our backgrounds and stories
we know you are blind to the facts but thats ok for now
You don’t even know our backgrounds and stories
that wouldn't change anything lol
if the guy was arrested and charged for gun possession that broke Illinois paperwork laws then go ahead, convict him and ship him home idgaf
He was not charged for that though. He was charged for a crime that doesn't exist in the books. He This is clearly the fault of the plaintiff and the DA for levying stupid ass charges that don't have legal precedent
And, in 2018, it was shown that an FOID card does not have to be physically carried alongside a firearm.
You don’t even know our backgrounds and stories
these people are some of the most desperate on earth
Your own government contributes to siphoning wealth out the global south or invading/couping it or sanctioning it to death to where people have to flee
Your own ruling class does not care to actually solve immigration because most of the undesirable jobs in this country are done by illegals who already don’t have many benefits, can’t unionize for better rights, and are at the whim of the bourgeois
They also help to depreciate wages here. All you are doing is buying into the bait
You don’t “lean” leftist you literally have no clue what you are saying
