Not suggesting this in particular but I never really used social media other than ktt. (Although Lately Ive been watching cat shorts but only because I miss my cat back home lol) but I draw for a living and drawing is way more fun than phones. Find a hobby like music, drawing or some other art that lets you use your phone as a tool to better it instead of an opportunity cost. These things are tools and can hurt or help you depending on how you use them. Having to work a little for your dopamine can be an adjustment at first but once youre used to it, it feels much more fulfilling than the hollowness of social media.
I get bored within the first 2-3 minutes of every movie, show or anime I try to watch
What a sad life cro
Never really cared for movies like that ngl
Damn I feel you. To me, ain’t many better experiences than chilling with the fam/friends/girl or by myself and just watching a movie
youtube has ruined my life
Holy f*** bruh. Meanwhile my s*** like 3-4 hours

What's got you thinking that now is the time to change and why does it feel impossible?

It’s over for me
I have this app called blockit.
It completely blocks you from doing anything except calling while you've set up a certain timer on it. You need to pay actually money if you wanna do something while the timer is on.
Use it whenever you feel like you are gonna start mindlessly scrolling and do something actually entertaining or some task you've been delaying.
Might be better alternatives to this app too.
Music was getting boring to me too so I decided to stop listening to hip-hop and mainstream music or any music that's being talked about on ktt2 or reddit or tiktok, stopped letting the spotify/youtube algorithm recommed me music and started going to more music events and festivals (especially festivals that are focused on music I don't usually listen to like traditional folk music), and started listening to online community radios.
I'm at a point where my playlists feel so new and fresh that I feel excited and in love with music again.
That also the main reason I rarely check music sxn, no offense but for a music forum ktts music taste feels so uninspiring and disappointing to me

Great progress, hope it keeps up for you!!

What are some online community radios you'd recommend and how do you go about finding them?

Some of my favs
halfmoonbk.com/ - this one is supposed to help black people reconnect with dance music genres that originated in black communities but are mostly considered “white people music” today.
doyou.world/ - different types of shows with variety of nice hosts, my favorite online radio honestly
HKCR - they are small enough to pretty much let anybody make a mix for them which is fun because you get to know so much stuff you wouldn't find otherwise, they mostly play electronic music tho
NTS - I know they are the "mainstream" online community radio but they got a really huge variety of shows so if you dig you'll find lots of amazing music there

To find them I usually just ask people irl, also some community radios have chatrooms where you can ask people

Are you somehow connected to some of them?

check out kmrd.fm/listen
it's a radio station out of Madrid, NM. freeform and volunteer/listener supported they have like 30 DJs who play all sorts of stuff 24/7 ad free
also check out everynoise.com it's a site who was built by an ex Spotify employee (he made it when he was working there) and uses their like 3000+ micro genres and info on what users listen to all over the world
it's a little confusing at first glance but scroll to the bottom and check out some of the playlists at the bottom
I particularly like the Hyperspace House Concerts which finds what people ONLY in the selected city are listening to. so you get some super local/underground stuff that you would never ever find any other way. a fav of my is Glasgow
since I've spent a few hours every week or two actively discovering new music it's like fed my algorithm and now my weekly playlists are better than ever
and I've been going to more local shows than ever before too and make all kinds of friends. I think as AI grows people will seek out live local music even harder
