I'll be listening to the two Gorillaz albums today
Starting with Plastic Beach
2010 is a formative year for me that's when I started seriously listening to music and albums and it holds a lot of nostalgia
So I decided to go over some albums from that year, rate them itt and do a little review. Idk how many albums I'm aiming for maybe like 20. Most of them will be familiar albums I haven't checked in a while. I'd also like some recs itt and I might listen to them.

Alright Plastic Beach was pretty weird, will write thoughts about it later, now playing The Fall
Pink Friday, Loud, Hunger Fore More 2, Congratulations, Animal, Sir Lucious Left Foot and How I Got Over mandatory as well
Day 3: Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
It's hard to pinpoint exactly what this album sounds like, Damon called it their "most pop" up until this point, and it's definitely more pop as Gorillaz and Demon Days were both more rock centered, but it's also some of the weirdest pop I've heard and I actually haven't really heard this kind of sound outside of Gorillaz music.
This sound has hits and misses... sometimes it sounds a little too goofy, messy and off key for its own good. But then the massive highlights on this album like Rhinestone Eyes, On Melancholy Hill, Empire Ants and Pirate Jet (all top tier songs) wouldn't exist.
If you care about Gorillaz I recommend reading a little about the production and concept of the album. Seems to be a whole creative vision and lot of effort and energy put into this. Adding a lot of different guests and sounds and creating this mesh of pop, electro, hip hop and funk music. The concept is somewhere between an environmentalist / anti consumerist message and world building of a fantasy land. It's not really a story there though more of a vibe.
I don't like it as much as the earlier Gorillaz albums. I don't think it's as tight or fun to listen to. But it's unique, it's ambitious, they wanted to change their sound and they went for it all the way and I appreciate the vision.
Gorillaz - The Fall
Not too much to say about this album as this is more of a B sides album created on tour for Plastic Beach. It's a lot of electronic songs recorded on an iPad (a 2010 iPad for that matter) which makes sense while listening to a lot of them.
I don't recommend skipping this album while listening to Gorillaz discography because it does have a few highlights like Revolving Doors, Little Pink Plastic Bags, Bobby In Phoenix, but overall it's a little bland, dated, awkward and forgettable and the songs mesh into each other.
Plastic Beach is awkward too but it has a lot more personality.
If we're back to the Radiohead comparisons, this is no "Amnesiac". It's more of a extra demo album to give to the fans.
I’m a day late but Plastic Beach might still be my favorite Gorillaz album.
Haven’t heard anything post Humanz tho because Humanz was MID
