Might do pilot talk instead
this is a great iniciative but imma have to hate on u for giving Kush & OJ a 7/10
7/10 is a good score
I’ll be honest with you guys, I tried listening to The Age of Adz and realized it’s too weird for me and I feel like ending the project a little early.
So playing what I intended to be the last album: How I Got Over by The Roots. and then I think that’s it.
Day 22: The Roots - How I Got Over
Ending my thread with the beautiful How I Got Over by The Roots. A while ago I tried to go over The Roots discography and failed to do so, so I'm glad I have another excuse to listen to this album.
It's very rich in sound with the live instruments and jazz influences. Really good soulful hooks, insightful lyrics. The album sound is mellow and it's pretty melodic for a rap album. Iconic underground rap features like Phonte and Blu.
Cozy, warm, introspective, expansive album. Might be one of my favorite Roots albums. (btw the last song doesn't exist just skip it).
Favorite songs: Now or Never, How I Got Over, The Day, Right On, The Fire.

You're not missing out. That album sucks
So that's it! Hope you enjoyed this thread. I don't have a lot of reviews left in me so that's why the last few have been so short.
I enjoyed going back to some of the more nostalgic albums and discovering highlights from that year I haven't heard before.
I don't think I'll be doing a 2011 thread but we'll see. If anyone else wants to give it a try, I'll give you a list of albums I planned to do.
What I might be doing is a "classic" OFWGKTA ranking thread but it might take me a while, or I might just not do it every day and take longer breaks. I feel more confident about this kind of thread because the mixtapes will be easier to compare.
As for some of the 2010 albums you recommended me, I'll listen to some of them at some point. I wanted to check the electronic ones anyway.
Thoughts about 2010 in general: a good year with a lot of creative albums. The start of a new era in some way. A lot of overproduced music lol, but maybe we're missing some of these vibes today. Also the hip hop from that time feels a lot more down to earth than now.

u are very brave 4 what u did & we will never 4get this flizzy thank u
Enjoyed this thread a lot
Would be better if people werent complaining about your reviews so much, u didnt even have any crazy bad ones
I think It would be well received if someone went and grabbed the 2010 sound, any genre, and made an album right now.

What is the 2010 sound?
2010 is a formative year for me that's when I started seriously listening to music and albums and it holds a lot of nostalgia
So I decided to go over some albums from that year, rate them itt and do a little review. Idk how many albums I'm aiming for maybe like 20. Most of them will be familiar albums I haven't checked in a while. I'd also like some recs itt and I might listen to them.

I love this album. I considered it my #1 roots album for a while (not sure that I still hold this opinion but I was really into this album for a while). The masses seemed to prefer Undun to HIGO but I never agreed.
What is the 2010 sound?
If I had to summarize it's like overproduced with a lot of layers

I'm thinking maybe Cosmogramma should've been the 10 instead
