This is more in the noise/gaze genres than hard rock/grunge

I don’t really know. It’s has elements of shoe gaze as well as grunge.

Like mayonnaise for example after the first minute is the most grunge you can ever get.

I would argue further that is in fact just one of the greatest songs ever period.

It’s a classic album for sure. Mayonnaise being a kick ass track too, but outside of some grunge influence, I personally see it as Alternative Rock Shoegaze. It definitely has grunge elements given the time of the release

You see when I think of Shoegaze I think of MBV Slowdive and maybe Cocteau Twins at a stretch.
