MJ averaged a 3-4 year wait between albums., Usher averaged 3 years between albums, R kelly averaged 2-3 years between albums, George Michael averaged about 3 years between albums, Biggie waited 3 years after ready to die, Bobby brown took 4 years after don’t be cruel, Madonna averaged 2-3 years between albums,Toni Braxton averaged 3-4 years between albums...and many more. Anyways don’t be mad at artist for taking time to make quality and not fast-food trendy s***.
OP is about content in general, not just music. Kendrick hasn’t done an interview since Damn came out and has almost no social media presence. Can’t think of many recent features aside from Mona Lisa and Momma i hit a lick. It really does feel like he drops an album and then goes years without contributing anything to the culture
All the musicians you mentioned were doing other s*** between albums. Yeah MJ didn’t drop an album in 1993 but he did the f***ing super bowl that year. Even R Kelly done found a way to keep people talking about him.

I'm only a casual Drake fan. But where I give him the overall nod over Cole and Kendrick is consistent presence: features, loosies, interviews, albums.
This Drake mixtape just highlights the difference. It's not an instant classic , but it's quality music (minus toosie slide) to hold the fans over.
