First two acts had me leaning toward a 5 or 6/10, but the final act did so much heavy lifting it’s wild, can’t remember the last time a final act saved a film for me. Sydney was alright for most of it, she’s incredibly beautiful but I feel like more could’ve been done to give her character depth. Violence was surprisingly visceral, could’ve done without the cheap jumpscares, but really that third act amplified it in terms of acting and tension. Just off the buzz of the ending I’m leaning toward a 8 but I’ll settle for a 7.5/10 cause of the issues with the start.

One of my favorite modern horror writers/critics Mike Thorn has given this his co-sign so I’m totally on board for it even more than I already was.

Very solid movie. It had some typical pitfalls of mainstream horror nowadays, but it also did some things that I thought were really good. These are the things that if I were to make a horror film I would do. like seeing the body drop in the background after seeing the red mask nuns in the window.

Sweeney I thought was pretty good. Her facial expressions are great in this. Also big mention for the lighting. Hard to f*** up an Italian convent but it can be done (see Blumhouse).

saw this today cus i just wanted to see a big face on a big screen

but was surprised that it was actually decent, the ending in particular genuinely shocked me a lil, even if the rest of the film was a bit obvious and the jumpscares too s***ty to be scary in any meaningful way

the rosemary baby beats were too obvious to ignore but i wasn't expecting an original cinematic masterpiece, and really i felt satisfied at the end which i wasn't really expecting
