The s*** sound bites on my first single

I was partying with my landlord for his birthdaywhen encore dropped and someone had gotten it for him as a gift

The way the excitement slowly died in the room during the first song in between the first chorus and when that bullshit “head popped off head popped off head popped off get dropped off get dropped off” verse came on

i remember being a kid and the night Encore dropped the biggest top 40 radio station in my area played the whole album

even at that age I was like man what

Still Dre, Lose Yourself, In Da Club, Not Like Us.

Arguably four of some of the most iconic rap songs ever and they were all birthed from the Dre/Aftermath/Interscope familia.

You saying it wouldn't have still be outstanding music if he was black?

I’m saying he wouldn’t have been as popular as he was if he was black

It’s hard to fully give him that title though because, like he said as well, that never happens if the color of his skin was different

Also I feel like people generally think his music from that period didn’t age the best

You could do this with anyone though

Would Nas have the same reputation if he was white? A white rapper couldn’t make Illmatic so what would he make?

Not really. It’s extremely hard to reach those heights in America if you are not white. Not impossible, but very, very unlikely. It’s no coincidence that 8 of the 10 highest-selling artists of all-time are white acts.

Eminem himself has even conceded that he wouldn’t be as popular if he wasn’t white.

Inevitable cuz a big part of him blowing up SO big was due to his content being relatable to white teenagers hence the “I hate rap but love Eminem (and Tupac) cuz he raps about real life situations instead of booty shaking, guns and hoes” YouTube comment based memes

I get what you’re saying but the truth is that no other white rapper has come anywhere near Em let alone most black rappers. Even Mac Miller as super talented as he was was never even in the top 15-20 of biggest rappers.

Eminem was just one of a kind. Drake by the way isn’t like super off from the top 15 all time of best selling artists either. So it’s not like a black rapper can’t come close. Like both him and Kanye are just outside the top 20

Never said anyone came close, but the truth still remains the truth. Eminem said it himself. Yes he was one of a kind, because he was an exceptional rapper and he happened to be white. No one is denying his talent. But his skin color still contributed to his massive success.

Drake is a whole other conversation lmao

I remember seeing some.thing a few months ago about how the guy who made it was just messing around on his guitar and made that melody, then added the drums n stuff, it sounded real rough at first, but Em fw it so much the dude polished it up and we got what we got.
