  • Does that enhance the artist-fan experience for you
Do you think the artist-fan experience even exists anymore

Do you think it pushes the cultural dialogue forward or do you think that the cultural dialogue only hopes to amplify the precedents already set for itself

I mean as long as it the open-mindedness applies only to opinions that aren't hateful, sure. The issue with a lot of anti-cancel culture discussions is that people often want to protect things that shouldn't be protected. If you're discussing truly hateful things in regards to gender, sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. and trying to protect them by blaming it on cancel-culture and trying to pass them off as simple politics, you're in the wrong.

the best thing about cancel culture is that more people are realising these icons and idols arent s***

Of course. Anything that goes against morals is an issue and cancel-culture in theory is a strong culture in that regard. What worries me is what has happened with cole and chance lately. Its like a societal bot coming for these people telling them how wrong they are without understanding the conversations theyre opening up with their respective platforms. I’ll take someone’s vulnerable thoughts over PR management statements anyday of the week but idk if others truly feel the same.

Their is a reason why "never meet your idols" has become such a common phrase over the years.

So then what do you envision culture becoming in a post-celebrity landscape

i think that if people started valuing ideas over people then everything would be better

but to answer your question, no. Even if your intentions are positive and not hateful in the slightest, someone somewhere can still project themselves onto it and interpret it in such a way

Depends on which platform you’re using. I feel like you can touch on certain points of view in podcasts and on youtube without being labeled as a "villain" but it’s almost impossible on places like Twitter and even here.

mmm good point. peoples thoughts do ironically feel more susceptible to attack when in plain text instead of seeing someones face or hearing their voice when they say it.

without a profile pic even someone might have the cognitive bias to assume im less intelligent than someone with a profile pic

Yeah that’s what I was getting at

Platforms that are text only like Twitter and even KTT2 only rely on half of the conversional tools we possess so our point of views on there seem way less nuanced

texts leaves so much up for interpretation, which is why places like twitter just become a cesspool of misunderstanding, which eventually bleeds into real life
