Yeah that’s what I was getting at

Platforms that are text only like Twitter and even KTT2 only rely on half of the conversional tools we possess so our point of views on there seem way less nuanced

i wouldn’t say less nuanced, in fact text can oftentimes provide more nuance to a topic

it’s more so that possible interpretations widen when something is in a text format, and therefore a construction of words that seemed harmless to its author can be interpreted as hateful by a viewer

Gender politics race politics politics in general etc

    It depends.

Do you know nothing about the topic and have seen one YT video about it? Should probably keep it to yourself.

A lot of people think "well you should debate things you don't agree with" can be applied to everything. A lot of the time you're just wasting time and getting drawn to absurd side of a spectrum where there shouldn't be an argument happening in the first place.

If you are arguing about something it implies you know about the topic right? So when it comes to things like Climate Change Denial, "Race-Realism," or "Classic Feminism" I won't be sitting here arguing with people cuz 99% are arguing in bad faith not out of curiosity.

We have to be careful with the scenarios of what we deem worthy of having a debate about.

For example: If Future posts an article talking about "is X-Race actually worthy of human rights?" all it's doing is normalizing ambiguity about whether or not those people are humans.

I’d like to see a political app just like Twitter but instead of 140 words, it‘s 2 minute selfie videos

Like a Tik Tok/Vine but for woke niggas

    hey man relax

texts leaves so much up for interpretation, which is why places like twitter just become a cesspool of misunderstanding, which eventually bleeds into real life

throwing blanket statements out like darts without elaboration —> people fight back to soothe their ego —> someone takes a personal jab at another —> that person gets the most likes retweets —-> the other person stands firm in their political stance even more because they feel emotionally attacked and need comfort —> the cycle keeps the cesspool churning

There needs to be a replacement and this would be a good step forward imo

Black man that publicly admits he cares about ensuring his personal riches: coon

Black man that publicly disavows greediness and economic oppression while still actively ensuring his personal riches: not a coon

    i like that

so many debates happen without either side even being aware of their own cognitive bias

i sometimes fear that people’s cognitive bias is formed out of fear of looking like a dumbass though. I think its ok to not be an expert if your humble about soaking in new info

its like are we working to get an 100 on this one test or are we working to get a better overall GPA

are we avoiding personal crisis management or are we in it for the long run

Yes in the simplest form that is what being a Republican is

The prioritization of securing the bag

Why are Black people coons for participating in this behavior?

its shaky. I really dont think the majority of people are tryna have political discussions on platforms like tiktok or twitter. I think its all ego. So if you were to have a platform like that i immediately envision digital “Town hall”-like zoom conferences where groups of internet people contribute to a layered dialogue.

Would be great now that im thinking out loud about it

So then what do you envision culture becoming in a post-celebrity landscape

what culture are you specifically talking about?

its not that the GOP or DOC pay politicians big wages its that lobby groups that give these people jobs after politics is where bag is really made

they just sit on a board and vote for lobbyist interest while making a fat stack

    good life i might say

culture in the broadest sense. Our interpersonal and societal relations with each other that are both intimately and broadly influenced by the voices of celebrated public figures

I honestly cant tell you how i would envision our culture without celebrities because they're really just a result of many other factors like marketing, advertising, etc. Which is really just a result of money and s***.
I couldnt imagine some vacuum environment where celebrities dont exist anymore but the reasons for their previous existence still exist.
Basically it would be a far cry from our current system lol

Yes lots of people tie to those kinds debates to their ego/emotions...I understand them because humans are sensitive like that but everything has its limits. How they approach the convo is also usually telling. If you make X claim do they go:

    • X-Claim? I'm pretty sure its acctually Y-Claim.

    Or

    • No dumbass, its Y claim.

Thats what im trying to dissect though

Without rhetorically speaking Is it possible to be fluid in thought without being automatically pinned as a republican or a coon

Well I don't think people call it open minded when you offer dissent towards capital or imperialism or other dominant ideology. It's a positive framing largely used for reactionary ideas.

I don't think being open minded is a positive quality inherently. Stand for something. Hold a belief. You think therefore you are. It's fine to change, but to be open minded is to cease to exist.

  • Jul 14, 2020

    Yes, yes very much.

Not being able to vocalize your thoughts and opinions is detrimental to your mental health. When you're not doing that, how can you genuinely grow as a person?

As artist you are not a product, you are a person. I used to love the mystery around an artist, but found out it's actually draining for them. The veil of being a celebrity is suffocating despite all its perks.

Great point though I can’t speak for the right. I’m speaking on behalf of us whom i assume is mostly left due to the norms of music, specifically hip hop culture
