To keep their relevancy and momentum? I feel like artists should drop at least once in every 6 months because things move so fast in this era.. fans want to be fed often.
I’m obviously not talking about established artists like Kendrick who have created a fanbase that can sustain a long hiatus but I’m talking new artists who want to break through.
Would be great getting some insight from active artists on KTT what their strategy would be also.
don’t wait 2 years to drop some mid is all imma say
Social media drives todays music. People have short attention spans and social media exploits that. So it’s necessary that new artists are doing at least something significant every 6 months or so.
Sucks because artists need to work way more than they used to in order to remain relevant.

Yer it feels like the way the game and algorithms is set up these you gotta have new s*** very often. Even if you don’t have a project ready you gotta be dropping EPs or loosies or just being active.
Sucks man. It’s like the barrier of entry has become non-existent but artists gotta work harder than ever to cut through.
As soon as you make new songs, drop them all until niggas start to bully you, then chill until you have something you’ve verified with trustworthy people to be absolute flames.

the trend is really notable when you look at output. There’s a reason why most s*** that’s popped last few years is so derivative of 2016 sounds
Depends on the aesthetic that they are portraying.
But for the most part, new artists in 2022 at minimum need 1 project a year and then some.
If your music fills a particular niche, has a unique sound, or if you're especially gifted, you get some leeway. There's a reason people have waited this long for a new Kendrick album. It will sell well. And that's not just because he's established; it's because he occupies a special place in the culture. This could apply to newer artists on a smaller scale.
Generic rappers have to do the rat race.
Depends on the type of music they make, the position they’re in and the type of fan base they want to garner. Niggas can drop at a Youngboy pace and if it don’t click it don’t click.
Rising independent artists should drop a single every month or bi monthly & an EP every year/every other year
gotta stay in peoples faces

I see so many artist doing this and honestly halting their success by over saturating and gaining a reputation for dropping mid
Sometimes its better to just wait a bit and cook up some quality
