Rising independent artists should drop a single every month or bi monthly & an EP every year/every other year
gotta stay in peoples faces
But ppl got tired of Conway dropping every 6 months
I liked If It Bleeds tho.
If your music fills a particular niche, has a unique sound, or if you're especially gifted, you get some leeway. There's a reason people have waited this long for a new Kendrick album. It will sell well. And that's not just because he's established; it's because he occupies a special place in the culture. This could apply to newer artists on a smaller scale.
Generic rappers have to do the rat race.
It’s interesting to think about how Kendrick would have approached his career if he was coming up now. He came up the end of the mixtape and physicals era right before streaming took off.

There would be no Kendrick in our day and age, not as we know him
Every year or every other year is probably ideal for a rising artist though
Solo album every 1.5 to 3 years. This should be rule for everyone not on latter part of career.

Think Conway eventually got to a point were he didn’t need to but kept on anyway
If it were me I’d drop an album every other year with a mixtape or two in between and hop on some features that make sense
new artists gotta drop at least once a year
once ur big enough u can get away with 2 years and maybe more
basically the bigger u get the longer u can wait
Think Conway eventually got to a point were he didn’t need to but kept on anyway
I think he had to do it that way since he's breaking off from Griselda
Lulu 2 and the next Big Ghost album could really put Drumwork on the map
I see so many artist doing this and honestly halting their success by over saturating and gaining a reputation for dropping mid
Sometimes its better to just wait a bit and cook up some quality
waiting is fine but tbh one great project every so often from a upcoming artist is not going to keep you in the conversation
artist do this because it’s a formula that works in today’s age, eventually the pace needs to change once in a position to do so but artist really now have no leeway to sit back while others are moving
1. As often as they want
Or 2. Based on the behavior/expectations/attention of their own audience
In short, no real or perfect answer. Thats it.
JAY Z was dropping 1 album a year since he started in 1996
either keep up or drown
Once a year with a detailed rollout.
Jay Z did it and it worked.
Other route is Curren$y.
One mixtape a month until an album drops.
New artists should have that fire 🔥 lit underneath them to drop that PI YOW often

Russ's strategy of dropping a song a week worked really for him.
Momentum is key.
