this is hilarious

Rishi need an account on there
Writing made no sense. Why is he such a sought after premier trader if he's just lucky and actually overcompensating for his 20th century ari gold type machismo with ridiculous bets? How is he the best trader in London if he's only gotten this far off luck? He can ask Goldman Sachs's why they wanna hire him in a meeting if all he is is lucky?
Ari gold and Tony S worked as overly aggressive male characters because they were ACTUALLY good at what they did and smart. They took arguably one of their best chars and turned him into a whining "help me white girl!" B**** boy who clearly is one snow bump away from jumping off Big Ben 😂
Not to mention that whole line in season 2 about rishis dad teaching him "if you throw something into the universe it'll come back" but ZERO cameos from his parents? Are they dead? I guarantee you this episode was not written by a brown person lmaoo. It's as if his entire char is just some whining brown boy who become rich to cure his white women fetish. Complete lack of character dept, it's like they just wanted to turn an arrogant prick into a sniveling mamas boy
Shows no where near as good as fallout if we're talking "best show". Maybe it's first 2 seasons. And no Jon snow isn't gonna save them. At least baby yas and Harper's story lines are great 😮💨
Lmao bruh one of the core tenants of this show is just how fickle the business they are operating is.
Everyone I know that trades literally says this s*** is all luck, knowledge and intuition of course but Random Walk Theory exists for a reason lmfao

They are reading the flow of money, there's clearly an element of betting against the tide for a strong headwind and just literally hitting that .1% chance but no top tier traders don't just get there because there biggest trades were luck induced. Theres percentages and probabilities and then there's pristine perception. The traders ik who got where they are are always about getting the "color" (as they mentioned in show) knowing the flow and getting to the whisper numbers, even more importantly knowing the whispers, first. That's why you see such a reactionary market today annd even if Nvidia beats estimates it slides down right after cuz it didn't beat the street whispers right?
Industry is absolutely fickle but you don't get to the top because of random walk theory.. accordingly the writing isn't consistent. This guy went from knowing the charts before they're printed to being a destitute horse racing gambling addict out of nowhere that prays he's right.. There's things called pacing and tempo lol.
Not to mention i don't think you addressed any of my points on his parents having zero impact (when clearly the script has stated rishis dad has been a factor in his life) or the fact that his success simply is to fuel an addiction to white women and gambling??
Character went from deep af in the S2 finale to shallow as s***? it's a character break and it's not well written and that's typical of hbo lately sorry
Rest of the show is dope

Man I just fully disagree.
The show is clearly setting the stage that whatever is going on with LUMI is clearly unprecedented territory. It just makes sense that the excitement that came with the IPO would lead characters to make irrational decisions.
And while we didn’t get any look into Rishi’s parents. There’s clearly a groundwork laid for his past through the Asim Chaudry character that can expand further.
Me personally I don’t need to know what Rishi’s parents like cuz I know like 5 Rishi’s. Loud and boisterous first generation Asian kids who carry themselves with a macho demeanour often associated with “the alpha male type” which is amplified due to all the emasculation that comes with the racism they receive based on stereotyping.
What I love about industry is this is the first time I’m truly seeing this character in full form. I’m only in my early 20s but I can imagine a lot of the dudes ending up just like Rishi.
It’s also been very established that Rishi has always had way more of a stake in any of Pierpoint’s dealings than the rest of our main characters. Idk I really appreciate your well written response but this was all stuff I predicted Rishi’s character doing.
Also worth noting like two years go by between seasons

Ok but as a brown straight 1st gen male I can promise you it's not just cuz I love having s***with white women lmaooo. Like I get it it's satisfying to see the trope finally on screen which is why I like rishi, but if you were getting into the "what is the reasons" I and many of my ilk are the way we are is cuz of immense expectations by people who MOVED ACROSS THE WORLD to give us an opportunity they dreamt of. "To whom much is given much is required". That's the gist of it and why I keep asking about his parents lol. Maybe there's a machismo but there is also tremendous drive for success and ambition and it's 90% of the time built bcuz of expectations. As a person who is very much familiar with rishis story I can just promise you that the representation isn't accurately reflected in season 3 as it was in season 2. Yes I'm a prick but I'm motivated for a reason type s***. White women being the addiction coming full circle with the "save me white girl" moment at the end (as well as the gambling addiction coming full circle) was in lock step with the ambition coming back full circle. It's like seeing someone write a story about mf's like you and reduce your story to just wanting some low melanin p**** lolz. It's reductive
Still like the show tho! And ty for saying. It's a good write up, I know where you're coming from but had to add my 2cents since we're talking Asian first generation male (me lol). And again still dig the show lol.
another L for DUDCESSION
