They aren't shouting GET THEM OUT and burning immigrant hotels because they want a more controlled flow of immigration.

They are a direct reaction to the awful socio-economical state in which most of us in the EU are in right now, but completely misdirected.
As in the past, times like these sway people towards the far-right spectrum and that's what's been happening in Ireland, as it has been happening in France, Netherlands, etc.

And I agree about assimilating into local culture, but as coming from someone in the EU - neither the state nor the local people in my country care too much about helping them assimilate either, so it's def not a one-sided coin.
