I always hold my heart hoping its not a muslim when someone commits an act of terror but at this point people just need to learn to threat everyone as an individual instead of holding an entire group accountable for what 1 person does
As an immigrant seeing these things happen I think I should at least appeal to my fellow immigrants to respect the land that took us in and it's people.

i hear that and sure it’s a good thing to do, but you’re not actually obliged to; you shouldn’t feel any more commonality with an immigrant who commits crimes than you would with a native who does

Okay you are right, I can't carry that weight
Somewhat ironic how the goals of the contemporary Irish left would have been better served remaining under the British aegis while the goals of the contemporary British right would have been better served remaining in the European Union, despite both bitterly fighting (the Irish rather violently) to leave

apparently the suspect who did it is an irish citizen who’s lived in the country over 20 years
and the man who tried to stop it is a brazilian immigrant
but why let facts get in the way of a good riot
Interesting angle
Not sure I agree, but intrigued
It’s true. When a white person commits a mass shooting, there isn’t an outcry to send whites back to Europe.
Just because Ireland did not partake in European colonialism does not mean it did not benefit from it
It, as a member of the west/EU/NATO, is entitled to all the economic benefits and the economic advantage that being part of Europe/The West entails, which can only come about by the subjugation and violence that occurs in the global south.
People then escape that violence, heading into the global west, and are subject to alienation, racism, marginalization, prejudice, etc
Ireland may not be directly responsible but it is part of a network that partakes in these actions, and it receives the full effects from it

honestly nah you’d get far right thugs not liking what they can’t understand in any context. if people from ghana hypothetically arrived in egypt you’d also get reactionary backlash from a small but pernicious part of the population
not that you’re entirely wrong but one theory does not fit all. people, and particularly a small subset of people, don’t know how to handle what they don’t know and what irrationally causes them fear

There’s no need for
hypotheticals brother
Then again you could argue Arabs and Berbers, like Europeans, actually benefit from their own colonial history of economic and political domination, subjugation, and expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa (unclear what this has to do with immigration, but that’s besides the point)
In which case I point you here

yeah
no doubt colonialism created the technology for much of contemporary oppression, but blanket prejudice against people different to you is part of human potential. sometimes the intellectualisation goes too far

Your point is mostly valid, but also, Ireland isn’t a member of NATO.

These cacs really exposed themselves for nothing

probably because whites are the majority
western world speaking
I thought Europeans were supposed to be more progressive
The whole thing was done by less than 500 ppl
I thought Europeans were supposed to be more progressive
This was never really true but yes it’s joever for the “Democrats would be on the right in Europe” meme

he is an immigrant. he is a naturalised citizen.
still, it doesnt fit in with the narrative that recent ‘uncontrolled migration’ was what got him there
