i'm also not in the dating scene but i still get DMs all the time.

• tinder is an app where everyone is looking for the same thing: other people (HUs)
• being approached irl can be kinda scary but if it's done well, it just feels organic and chill
• getting a DM with clear intentions of HU and dating feels like the guy is sitting in his basement on his phone with 20 xvideos tabs open and DMing every single girl he finds remotely attractive

i suppose there are women who like being approached like that, but from my experience, they're just liking the attention and validation

being approached in person can be scary and creepy and annoying but if you do it right, I’d 100% rather be approached IRL and I’d say most women feel the same way
