Was this an art history class?
most interesting thing to happen in an art history class
Where are you going with this lol
Follow the context, you know this is a simple thing to avoid doing and it’s very sensitive for many Muslims students
You choose disrespect their faith openly in public
There’s no conflicting cross identities here
She didn't force anyone to view the painting.
If I want to view a painting, why the f*** should I care if offends someone else if they aren't being forced to do that.
Being homosexual is openly "disrespectful" to many religions, so do you think that is wrong?
indeed, the general idea is that they indulge in things considered impure to transcend material duality
it’s similar to Vajrayana Buddhism, them boys consume feces, semen etc. in an attempt to cull the minds primal aversion, through this it’s supposed to cultivate an acceptance of the world at large and a form of enlightenment
it’s pretty gross all in all and forward, but yeah
most interesting thing to happen in an art history class
Ever. That s*** is soooo boring
Pretty surprised they actually covered a non white artist in one tho
yea
And the teacher was fired for showing historical artwork
Interesting

Religion in 2023
That’s irrelevant it’s their belief system you’re offending and most Hindus don’t do that
hindus aren’t a monolith big guy, they do animal sacrifices and consume meat too, they probably have the most varied views out of any major religion out there
And the teacher was fired for showing historical artwork
Interesting
i mean i don't think she should have showed her students the artwork. but she gave significant warning and communicated exactly what would happen in a respectful and professional manner.
it seems like there has been reported islamaphobia on the campus and in recent events that has now made this a hot topic in the national spotlight.
The s*** about religion that kills me is if a nigga was walking around in 2023 talking about being the son of god, hearing gods voice etc etc we'd call him a crackhead and move on with life

It’s not hard to double check with religious scholars or devotees to a religion to make sure something isn’t offensive. Especially as a professor who has done dissertations, etc there is no way she was this messy by mistake.

Idc about talking about homosexuality stay on the topic
1) It’s offensive of itself to draw it
2) She’s aware she represents an academic institution made up of multiple demographics, including Muslims
3) Shes aware the act of drawing the prophet is insulting
4) She does it anyway
If you can’t understand the logic of why in the context of an academic multicultural setting this was stupid on her part, there’s no point in going further

Idk I don't want to speak on it too much considering it's not my religion but do Muslims typically go their entire lives without seeing depictions of the prophet irl? If you can't handle smth like that in a controlled and professional environment...what will happen irl?
