honestly i think a lot of ex religious turned atheist people go so hard on being anti-religion as a sort of rebellion to their parents (who most likely brought them up religiously)

I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness, for 17 years. Baptized into the church and everything. My whole family had to cut me off because I decided I no longer believe. All of my friends from back then are gone. It's wasn't just some bullshit that's not affecting me anymore it was my life. Former religious people have smoke for valid reasons.

I believe it was a course on Islamic Art but there may have just been one Muslim student, which, I admit, can certainly be awkward if you are the minority and the teacher is asking for input. (EDIT: Though, I think it is an awkwardness college students should know how to handle. Just because they may find themselves in similar positions later in life depending on where they live.)

I'd like to know if the student at least emailed the teacher after this was mentioned in the syllabus because you can do that if you don't feel comfortable speaking out during class. Of course, if the teacher says they won't show the picture because some students were offended, it is also true that most ppl would assume (right or wrong) it was the Muslim student. But, all the same, I'd like to know if the student at least attempted to contact the professor before making their complaint

I think nearly all religions and beliefs are valid but Jehovah’s have some questionable beliefs that are seemingly widespread. I always felt bad for dude in my class that couldn’t celebrate his own birthday
