sleeper track
one of my faves smh i got memories with this song
The Neptunes send him a bunch of songs in 2001 but he rejected them all, the tracks ended up going to Usher and JT. Their sound just might not have been what he was looking for
If Rock Your Body wasn’t so sexual I think MJ would’ve taken it unless it was the sound in general
But I gotta say ‘One More Chance’ is better and more powerful than this whole album to me
Shout-out Robot Keely for a second and I mean a second
Nah MJ ain't pass on it lol he was the one specifically requesting The Neptunes but the label ended up not liking what was produced and they went with a different suite of producers instead.
I think Prince just passed on Frontin because he personally didn't feel like that was a track for him. He loved it though, but I think this was also around the time when Prince was tryna do more live funk and jazz production as we heard on albums like NEWS and Musicology.
came in to say the first paragraph. You’re real
sleeper track
this is top 3 on the album tbh
I really wish Mike got what he wanted and had Neptunes producing this. It definitely would have been another classic which is what he needed in the 2000s. It’s a shame he never got to really work with the great artists we got that decade. I’m still right there isn’t documented footage of him with Kanye lol
Pop smoke - invincible
Yes
was a pretty bad album and everyone agreed
Was voted best album of the decade and upon release was Jackson’s fastest shipping album even in an era of booming internet piracy.
It’s fine if you don’t like it - but don’t justify that opinion with provable BS

where was it voted best of the decade? I looked thru a few lists and didnt see it

It was Billboard’s album of the decade thing - can’t remember if it was by fans or a writers deal but it was definitely Billboard

He didn't rejected the songs personally, his team rejected the songs, because they wanted MJ to have the Superthug style.
I promise y'all if MJ's team had taken the Neptunes tracks, the 2000s would've been completely different

no way this album was the highest rated. where? It has a score of 51 on metacritic.

I’ve said above already.
I highly disagree, and think that you should be burned at the stake for such a igregious take. However, that is your opinion, and I am in no way shape or form entitled to think of myself as higher than you because of it! I'm very glad that you enjoy this album! I'll check it out tomorrow to give it another listen.
mj was mad out of touch with what the public wanted and kept trying to go with the clunky robot beats instead of going back to his disco roots.
bootleg timbaland (darkchild) always sucked ass IMO
I’ve said above already.
looks like it was voted as album of the decade in a Billboard fan poll in 2009.
not trying to discredit the album, but i feel like that it might have only won the poll because of his recent death that year. don't think it's fair to try to outweigh the mixed reviews with that poll acting like it was a universally loved album

I never said it was universally loved. I said it won the poll, which it did, and it out shipped Thriller, which it did.
But - It wasn’t universally panned. By critics (who’d been overtly racist to Jackson since Dangerous) maybe, but that holds no weight.
