Ipod nano-ipod classic 80 gb-ipod classic 160 gb was the way to go

Just made no sense. Yeah it was cheap, but completely worthless to me.

Literally only good for playlists

I had one and it was alright. You just had to sort by artist or album to get some sort of order. It wasn't that big of a deal because it only held like a 2GB of music, not carrying all that much. Which is actually the only main issue I had with it.

Use my classic occasionally still. And to be fair not everyone listens or cares to listen to albums. Even today people just follow whatever playlist spotify generates for them, or pandora.

Some people just listen to the radio dog. Some people just had portable radios.
