As a New Yorker I think 2001 would like to have a word wit you my g.
At least back then I could hit the club and drown my sorrows
Worst part for me is that I was actually making moves and progressing in life at the start
!!
Y’all know 9/11 and the Afghanistan War happened right? Are we all just forgetting that all happened in one year? 😂😂😂

As a fellow New Yorker, nah. 2001 was bad, but the economic fallout we're about to see is worse than literally any economic downturn we've ever seen. It's on a par with the Great Depression but happened in a fraction of the time, and the aftermath is going to be obscene.

I don't think you're fully grasping exactly how bad the economy is. The high-end estimates for unemployment could be about 33%. That's one in every three working age Americans that are unemployed. That's horrific

Yeah because the government is literally forcing every business to close and every worker to stay home. What else would you expect? This still doesn’t compare to 2001 when a terrorist attack hit the biggest city in America, and in the same year we launched a war that has gone on for nearly 20 years.
We’ve seen way worse in this generation.

Only Americans are gonna feel the blunt of that
and we'll recover from it my g.
Meanwhile, the middle East hasn't recovered from the war that was started in 2001 'nahmean?

We didn't go to war until 2003.
I lived just outside of the city on Long Island when the plane hit, I remember it. It was devastating, but the economic downturn from that event pales in comparison to what we're seeing now. If you're looking for a job right now you are so totally f***ed unless you are a nurse, a doctor, a first responder, or a grocer.

The world will recover from this pretty quickly. People aren’t permanently losing their jobs. And no the War did not start in 2003. It started in October, less than one month after 9/11.
it's been pretty good for me personally but yeah obviously I'm as saddened by the stuff in OP as everyone else.

Yeah but the Middle East's turmoil sprouted up a longgggg time before 2001. You can take it all the way back to colonialism, but if you wanna have a tighter lineage to go by when it comes to looking at the state of affairs over there, the Iran-Contra affair is what set the Middle East off. By 2001, the Middle East had been in nearly 20 years of decay. It definitely got a lot worse in 2003, but yeah, it was spiraling out for a while. This virus literally came out of nowhere.
And globally, economies are seriously suffering in most countries. Italy is in shambles, China took a serious hit, the UK is hurting. Lotta places are getting severely f***ed over by this.

Ah my bad, I confused the Iraq and Afghanistan War. My apologies.
But the economy isn't going to bounce back over night. And the ripple effect that a devastated economy has on your career trajectory is lifelong. In best case scenarios, best case, people who enter the workforce during a recession make 2.5% less than what peers of there's who didn't graduate into a recession make.

this s*** was gon' crash by next year without this my g.

yeah it was, but it probably wasn't going to be as severe as we're seeing now. it went from an impending recession to the worst economic collapse in american history.

it was definitely going to be the worst economic collapse in american history. You're underselling how really bad the job market has gotten my g.
