“Kendrick’s show gave me chills because I got to see what it was like to have a hit album performed, and it set off a desire,” he says. “It was a recognition — like Oh, I’ll take that again. Like looking at a menu, I’ll have that again.”
in essence j cole was inspired by the recognition kendrick received on tour, not the actual music. Not the album. Cole wanted to deliver an album that could capture the audience the same way kendrick did on his damn tour. So saying he copied is reaching.
It would be a reach if the intro wasn’t a perfect remake of the DAMN intro
I listed the similarities throughout the thread but if you don’t see it yourself then it just points to you being a listener who is not very perceptive or thoughtful
but he didn't emulate it because you just told that the music are not comparable.
The SOUND isn’t perfectly comparable. Because J Cole sucks at producing and can’t duplicate Kendrick’s sound. The lyrics and concepts and all that is where the influence shows

DAMN intro- you decide
KOD intro- choose wisely
Nope
He said he was inspired by that aspect but if you’re inspired by the recognition that a piece of music receives then it’s a pretty logical conclusion to say that then you would listen to the music and try to emulate what it did
If you can listen to track 1 of DAMN and track 1 of KOD and not see it right away then I envy your ignorance. Choose wisely or you decide, I don’t even remember which is which any more
silly.
silly.
All y’all doing is telling the whole site that you skim through music
DAMN intro- you decide
KOD intro- choose wisely
you're better at the trolling s*** than most on here i'll give you that lol, got more pages on this thread than when you first made it.
All y’all doing is telling the whole site that you skim through music
and like i said earlier and my response was conveniently ignored, if you really cared to discuss the comparisons you've drawn then you would've initially done so in-depth. instead you did it for reactions.
congrats. lol
j cole was a corny s***ty rapper until kendrick blew up and he decided to start being more woke and concious with born sinner
born sinner is the first album he attempted to do some type of concept too
the single for born sinner is him trying to make a storytelling hit similar to what kendrick did with swimming pools
nigga switched his entire style after cole world
He was a corny s***ty rapper before Born Sinner but he peaked before Before Sinner

congrats. lol
Huh? I might not have spelled it all out perfectly in OP but I thought it was mostly self explanatory, like anyone who really listens would know. But I spent the first few pages elaborating further (this was months ago) and if you’re interested in me making the comparisons check that out, I can’t repeat myself just because Cozz and Ib find my thread from April
ktt spewing out more weird s***

Intro = BLOOD/End of the Heart 2, take your pick
ATM = Humble
The Cut Off = PRIDE
KOD = DNA (Titles, both second tracks and some point of second verse has Cole flowing quicker with a slightly different beat)
J Cole and Kendrick aren't the same artist so obviously they won't be carbon copies, but I don't think any of these are reaches especially when Cole himself said he wanted an album like DAMN. Some of the song titles are even spelt in all caps like DAMN tracks, this really not THAT far fetched

Ktt forever hate on Cole for some reason
People saying 4YEO & TPAB is the same must not understand that Kendrick didn't invent jazz rap
People saying 4YEO & TPAB is the same must not understand that Kendrick didn't invent jazz rap
Kendrick didn't invent skits/making an album a closed loop either but a lot more artists started doing it in their projects after GKMC
