Look i already know this sentiment is something the majority of us on this site know and feel being younger but I do sense a bit of “let’s actually talk about it” publicly from certain figures now. The media is having a tougher time promoting that american pride slop now in general without it looking out of place
idk it’s just an observation
Global scene been on that tip but Gen Z in particular has no choice but to be disillusioned because they're growing up in a reality where they're f***ed, be it affording property/ paying rent or basic quality of life stuff, not to mention that all the nations on the receiving end of that gung-ho s*** are in the spotlight now more than ever.
People love to b**** and moan dont they
there’s whole generations of older men who were told not to b**** or moan but uphold. Look where that got us doofus
People are just broke and outspoken. That’s all. If folks had good careers and made decent money everyone would be peachy.
S*** even if they had basic jobs and just stayed off social media and stopped comparing themselves to everyone else things would be peachy
It's been mainstream for the over a century
In literally every corner of culture except for music
blues

B****ing and moaning without channeling it into anything productive gets us the current political landscape. I think Theo is funny, but he also thinks Trump and Bernie should have been on the same ticket, just because they fit his definition of anti establishment. Basing your politics on nothing but outrage and rebellion is ultimately baseless
blues
That’s blues and RN OFC!
There’s actually a discussion to be had about how music been the only form of entertainment NOT talking about social issues in the mainstream for a minute now

what’s your definition of peachy cause in my opinion here in america that’s just people being sedated or distracted enough to not care about being outspoken. Your income class being risen isn’t going to fix the community issue of today. i.e. Move to bigger house in a more isolated suburb. But social media does exacerbate the issue

Theo comes from a nationalistic perspective i can tell because he cares about the american pride stuff. And most of what we would deem productive to change seems to get co-opted. I really don’t got time to find sources atm but so many culture changes within any industry, anyone deemed a “liberator” or even platforms that could endorse it just become another place of propaganda. Cause someone always sells out. corporations even sold out when they shipped factory jobs overseas. Yet somehow it’s the immigrants taking all our jobs?
The world was always f***ed but social media is f***ing up people. Ordinary people. This world is f***ing cooked
social media exacerbates it but it’s only a reflection of the continued alienation and dissatisfaction people feel with the current trajectory of society combined with a social media platform(s) designed to perpetuate and heighten those same fears mixed in with dopamine
logging off and not being chronically online will help to a degree but the solution isn’t because of one individual or another being depressed or too chronically online

i found out the other day that the worst social media might just be linkedin because these people have actual professional careers and operate like that

something funny is when you actually stop being chronically online you only realize more how distracted everyone is from the issue with entertainment and social media. healing trauma , healthy diet and no problems with women yet it’s not a good feeling to see how dissatisfied people are with this trajectory. Cause most of us know it’s not benefitting us anymore. we do it cause you gotta participate to live life right?
No amount of therapy is going to fix that feeling either at least for me
Yeah everyone can say that gen z is b****ing and moaning and outspoken and broke and whatever
But there’s no credit given to the actual state of the economy.
College is a money pitfall and wage-to-CoL ratios are the smallest they’ve ever been while work productivity is the highest it’s ever been, so small businesses are closing and suffocating recreational lifestyle while corporations replace them with cheap and soulless outlets of profit.
Any form of legislation to help relieve these pains isn’t helped because social progress in the US has entirely stagnated due to politicIan’s masking corporate corruption with culture wars
Global warming is making extreme weather a normalcy and no one likes us in the foreign stage because we bomb and kill without heed. What exactly is the young American supposed to do rather than be disillusioned
