Something I've noticed about many rappers who most will call the goat, (Jay Z, Nas, Kendrick, Andre 3000, Tupac, Lil Wayne etc) is that they have many songs that discuss race, politics, and/or black empowerment or struggle in America. Much of those songs or albums are why people hold them in such high regard. Yet Drake doesn't seem to have any songs about those topics.
I do remember that he gave the topic of police injustice half a bar, so I'll give him that one. (Drake stans if you wanna link/quote that it'd be appreciated) And more recently he's given money towards BLM and protestors. But it took him a decade or so into his career to do so despite there being multiple, I guess you can call them "easy lay-ups" in regards to racial injustice throughout the 2010s.
This isn't a thread to attack Drake for his lack of effort because for all I know he could've been donating money behind the scenes. But my main question is this: Isn't it just weird that he hasn't said much despite having a large platform that would enable him to do so with very little negative impact to his career?
These few questions are for Drake fans: Do you care? Do you think Drake being more vocal would make him even more great? Do you think a big reason why he's avoided these topics was for his career?
i’ve questioned it before but it’s never been a big deal that he speaks on it every now and then since he puts his money where his mouth is and actually donates money to bail funds and organizations. being black in america existing as s*** is rn and as it’s been is a protest in itself and gets exhausting at times so as long as artists aren’t on some coon s*** i don’t fault them for not always speaking on injustice. especially when drake don’t talk too much to begin with. that’s just me tho

Personally I don't really care but it's just always been odd to me. Even moreso when Pusha T exposed his whole black face thing and then Drake explained his reasoning for it. Like if that's how Drake felt about racism and discrimination...why has he never really brought it up in the music?
Just leads me to believe he didn't do it in order to not jeopardize his rise. Which I'll say...it be like that, but at the same time it is a bit disappointing.
There was really no reason whatsoever for this thread to be moved to the Drake sxn...

Lmao “drake fans do you think...”

You living up to your name with this.
He speaks on canadian issues a lot but yall dont care.
Niggas would hate on him crazy if he as a canadian inserts himself into american issues too much.
Biggie = GOAT no overt sociopolitical content
Mike = GOAT no overt sociopolitical content
Jay Z turned woke later in his career btw.

I don’t expect every rapper to be sociopolitical. I don’t mind him speaking on it now and then but I don’t expect that of him. Once you go down that road people expect that from you with every topical issue. Glad Drizzy didn’t take that route either, he has his lane.
His talked about his skin colour couple times in the past (mainly about how people didn’t take him seriously since he was lightskinned)
Honestly it doesn’t bother me he doesn’t need talk about politics or racial issue in his top 40 hit song.
I wouldn’t be surprised if CLB has at least one political song
Get a life and stop looking to celebrities for guidance on political issues, dork.
remember when he posted a poem during the george floyd protests
Remember when he donated $100,000 to National Bail Out for protestors?
Nah I'm sure you don't remember since you haters have selective memory when it comes to Drake

Clearly mentioned in the OP. Quit being soft.
