Dressing, art and style is so apart of me at this point, I really don't think about it that deeply anymore. Its just what I do, I know what to buy for myself, I know what I like. Attempting to impress women with clothes will have you looking silly out here tbh.

if you make it that way i guess it also depends entirely on where you live, if you’re in a metro area or city you can be more confident because of the diversity all around you people are always looking for someone who stands out

I have a couple of nice shirts from them, and a dope bucket hat in yellow. I feel you on the pricing, but at the same time, compared to other high end brands, their actually not priced that bad. Polo might be slightly more expensive then ALD right now, or their both neck & neck.

That line is drawn depending on how it makes you feel, "empty consumerism" is an expression of how you feel too, it just doesn't come from a very thoughtful or interesting place

The most thoughtful and interesting people in fashion to me aren't advocating for overconsumption in general, the cost is irrelevant

I kind of feel you on this one and have thought about this a lot.

Most people just buy whatever they like and throw it away after (less than) a season: the average American wears a piece 7 to 10 times before throwing it away! There’s little sense of style evolution, it’s just a matter of looking trendy to them and thus they discard the clothes as soon as they’re tired of them, which is exactly the mindless consumerism you mentioned. On the contrary, if you’re into fashion, I’d say your style is slowly ever-evolving and thus you’ll occasionally buy a couple of new pieces and sell some old ones. If it’s more about the journey than the destination, you’re not just mindlessly consuming, but a true hobbyist. That’s where I draw the line.

why would you want to be with someone who wants to be with someone wearing sweatpants and an H&M button up?

Put another way – so your aesthetic tastes are filtering out people who are intimidated. Are those people you would want to be with anyways?

Wear what you want, be who you want, and the people comfortable with who you really are will gravitate. Why worry about who you're pushing away? Start thinking about who you're pulling in.
