Having this discussion with my friend right now.
I say he is because he was one of the most influential artists of the 2010s and he has a number of very quality projects, as well as a streak of consistent relevancy and hitmaking for damn near ten years now.
My friend says he isn’t because, while influential, his style isn’t that groundbreaking and, according to him, he doesn’t have a project that changed music or is seen a classic. I rebutted this with DS2, Monster, 56 Nights, and Beast Mode. He said those aren’t relevant because they aren’t on the level of a TPAB or MBDTF or Blueprint.
So what do y’all think, is Future a legend or no?
You could use the same argument as your friend to say that Jay Z isn’t a legend, which doesn’t really make any sense, so yes.
A legend how though? He has no worldwide strength. Within America he’s a star but he’s more like a Ludacris or Lupe Fiasco type of star.
He won’t have a legacy which people will look back on with awe.

Life is good a billion plus views . If you think that’s only niggas in America you got bigger problems

Could easily argue that’s Drakes pull rather than Futures.

Maybe , but Future last album charted in like 50 diff countries . Peaked number 1 in Canada . Number 5 in the uk and 5 in Swiss . It peaked high in other countries too. Saying he don’t have worldwide strength a lil f***ed up
I can guarantee 10 years from now, people will not be talking about Future.
I don’t think it’s possible to talk about rap in the 2010s without mentioning Future in some capacity. His sound helped define the decade

DS2 is a certified classic...
