@op i went to art school, bunch of friends did grad and my sister did grad as well.

if you’re starting from the very very beginning then a grad program isn’t for you. a graduate degree is not the place to practice figure drawing if you want to do that then take some courses at your local community college and don’t worry about your degree l.

also, it depends what kind of job you want. art mfa’s are almost entirely useless unless you want to teach. other than that a bfa or just talent will get you where you want to go l.

OP completly finish this course. If you can grind through this without giving up then it can indicate somewhat how serious you are with the arts. This will give you the grind and dread of going through art school at a minimal level

alsoooo @op we may be talking about two different things but if we’re on the same page i’m just gonna be real with you: Unless you go to a very prestigious art school your degree will practically be worthless

Yup and even the prestigious art schools the debt is just so overwhelming its not worth it unless your parents are rich or something.
What you need is REFERENCES, if you have that, a high skill level and just some basic certification from a college or undergrad, thats what you need to break into film.

This was personal advice told me to me by the owner of one of the biggest art schools in California lol

On the flip side he also told me in his 30 years of working he’s never seen someone just try their whole life and not break in, lots of people dont because they give up. This is in context of the film/game side. But nobody spends like 20 years learning this stuff and never gets a job. It’s a reasonable career to have, its not impossible like a lot of people itt make it out to be.

Also lots of people switch into this later in life, thats common.

I've been meaning to start this. Think it's time to start doing this when I have some spare time and do it everyday

think i won't be going to grad school. just going to grind learning design and do it on the side for awhile until my skills/portfolio are up to par
