This is the first time in his career that it feels like execution hasn't been on his side.
Despite the fact that Slime You Out went No. 1, it most definitely didn't shake things from a cultural perspective. Obviously, we're talking about Drake, so his music is going to get played regardless, but in terms of impact, it wasn't it. However, it just got released, so it's kind of hard to gauge its longevity.
Now the cross-promotion between his tour and the developments of the album has been great and somewhat comedic. But again, the optics of him pushing his date back, Kanye lurking out of the shadows again, cancelling dates to the detriment of fans, and his back on forth with Charlemagne just ain't cutting it.
To his credit, he's given himself an abundance of content value to explore on this album, and if it is a straight hardcore hip-hop album as reported, BOOIII OI BOIII, we can expect some disrespectful, ignorant bars just like on Her Loss.
To be honest, he's been on that 'IDGAF' vibe for a while now, and I like it. Drizzy is taking liberties with his rap OG line of credit.
People saying it will bomb are delusional let us be honest i am only speaking the truth here
The album is called "For All The Dogs"
There better be a Pitbull feature or I'm not listening
Despite the fact that Slime You Out went No. 1..
Bro it went number 1. Ain’t no despite the fact lol. He still on top.
Cultural relevance point is moot because of a variety of facts that have nothing to do with Drake, but with the culture of instant gratification accelerating over the years and the way music consumption has evolved in the last few years.
Yup, if this one doesn’t connect, he might be done
Label might just drop him, looking like it could be over

Yeah after DLDT quick rollout and huge success there's no way a Drake album flops. The fact that he put out a surprise house album and it still got over 1 billion streams after a month is proof as long as the music quality is there the rollout doesn't matter people will eat it up if it's good

I would never say over. Drake has the luxury of not having a young bull vying or threatening his position like he did with Kanye and Jay some time ago.
Drake is too big to fail
Yeah and no
As long as the projects are decent he’s fine. The only way is if he drops something laughably bad, Like on some Revival type of s***
I think it would still be commercially successful tho no matter what
Gooner 19, your thoughts on the Raya vs Ramsdale debate?
Debate is reasonable.
Btw I need to change my name, this is the second time I've been drawn out on a thread for my football commitments. Lol.
a musician who went to #1 effortlessly with a mid song
Unfortunately drake is too big to fail as long as he makes something that caters to his core fanbase
The only way the success of a new album could ever matter to Drake again is if his public profile tanked for whatever reason and he needed the music to serve as a distraction. As it stands, he's culturally cemented and too big to fail.

raya is way better but he’s cooked food on long shots

Yes, that was also me last time and it will also be me next time, I'm afraid.

Nah this is definitely make or break, his back is against the wall. If he doesn’t deliver here, it could be the last we hear from him
