just seen that s*** play on a car commercial for football

It's been played at every single sporting event ive attended in the past 15 years, from middle/high school football, to court changes during college tennis meets, to NBA games.

No matter what sport or level of play, at least half of these songs are guaranteed to come over the loudspeaker at some point: Hey Ya (literally guaranteed 100% of the time), Knuck If You Buck, All I Do Is Win, Baba O'Riley, Thunderstruck, All the Way Turnt Up, and Put On

It doesn't even have to be a sport event. You could fill half a football stadium with people staring at an empty field, and within 15 mins a random employee would go in the control room and play "Hey Ya!"

i love outkast but its funny how andre is the only nigga from a group to be called top 10 oat just off of group albums and features while others who rapped just as good as him (big boi, prodigy, etc) have actually put out solo albums and aren't mentioned at all.

if meth and red counts then thats my answer but yeah its usually one rapper that gets most of the shine

Red and meth a great pick they def knew how to balance each other out I think that’s mainly due to how similar they were. I can even say ghost and Rae

Always thought it was funny how everyone says Tribe got one of the best discogs in rap but never have I once seen Tip or Phife in a top 10 list

Also why do solo albums matter, he has an extremely consistent and decent sized discog who cares if he’s in a duo

This a good ass statement. I actually seen tip get mentioned a couple times but he’s usually ranked low because he’s a producer. This should be a thread

They're not great rappers lol. Great hip hop doesn't always necessitate amazing lyrics

Considering that most people on this forum have Kanye over dudes who are clearly better at rapping like Biggie on their all time lists I don’t think this is a good point

Going by what you’re saying what would you call Jay Elect? Whatever you call him give the same title to Andre.

I mean Paper Trail was a cool album but that doesn't make Tip top 10 tbh. It's good music to send to the Turkish hoes tho.

Being a great solo artist with multiple great projects is harder than people think, id say andre 3000 is slightly overrated and big boi is very underrated. Andre isn't top ten imo but probably top 15 while big boi is top 25-30.

Tribe has my 2nd or 3rd favorite discog in rap, it's not a shot at them. It's just kinda true haha. They were f***ing around most of the time. "I like my beats hard like two day old s***. Steady eating booty MCs like cheese grits."

Doesn't that kind of prove my point though? That Kanye is the lesser rapper by a lot, but he's still made great records?

I was trying to say that it’s clear based on people’s lists that technical ability really isn’t that high on the list of criteria, seems like most people just rank based on enjoyment of the music and I’d expect to see more Tip and Phife mentions based on that

  • Sep 21, 2020

    dude put Eminem in OP

  • Obviously it’s fair

Trying to forge an objective rapper list is so tired boring frustrating and corny
