you're being obtuse bro. there's millions of kids who think they'll be the next big rapper and none of the ones who actually made a name in music just woke up one morning and went viral. there was a process and grind behind it as well.

Yeah bc it's not like there are literally whole basketball leagues in every country in the world filled with guys who wanted to play in the NBA but weren't good enough

If OP was talking about MAKING the NBA and making a TOP10 record I guess you could entertain the discussion

But making an ALL STAR TEAM in the best league in the world

Yall understand we're talking about being TOP26 player in the world or making a song that goes TOP40?

You say there are millions of kids who want to be next big raper and never make it

I say for every kid that wanted to be a rapper there are two kids who wanted to play in the NBA

and to back this up you can just pull up any country in the world and check how many players play in their national basketball league

I bet 90% of those guys wanted to play in the NBA at one point but weren't good enough

and we're not only talking about making the NBA. We're talking about being a TOP26 player IN THE WORLD for a whole season... cmon...

You cannot bring ONE example of a player making NBA by sheer luck and there are guys already in the NBA playing 16 years and never making the AllStar team despite being considered Hall of Famers

While IIRC LiL Pump has TWO TOP10 Billboard songs

    /end thread

It's way less effort to make a hit

Biggest #1 two years ago was a meme song

but there's lots of signed artists that never have hits. you just never hear about them. and people grind for connections too. you have to remember there are only but so many people who can help you. I''m sure its not an easy thing to just "know" someone who can get you a song with Drake or Justin Bieber.

I think it is easy it’s just a matter of luck, but I guess that’s similar to how it’s luck to be born with the talent to play in the NBA. Most people in the industry currently just have rich parents with connections, Post Malone, Chance the Rapper, Billie Eilish, no grind involved, the parents get you in the door and if the label people find you attractive enough they’ll help you make music

Yeah some signed artists don’t get that hit but a ton of nba players are never all stars too. Getting to that point where you have a chance would be easier in music I think, both are very unlikely but if we’re talking difficulty, there’s no doubt NBA requires more hard work

  • Mar 1, 2021

Btw if you're already rich it's easier to be a rapper than a basketball player

  • there's more business and marketing involved for success as a musician. honestly ppl would flock to an artist with a strong image who had one song out more than a regular person making music who has a lot more great music. Sports are all about performance. Music industry is a lot of who you know and how easily the ppl with money can market you

Yeah you're right Lebron is only a 1x All Star

  • Mar 1, 2021

this woulda been a better question in the early 2000s, because now it doesn't take much to get into top 40

  • Mar 1, 2021

Every month there's couple of new rappers popping , wakanda question is this

  • This thread gets even stupider when you realize WOMEN DON'T PLAY IN THE NBA

  • Mar 1, 2021

lots of angry folk in this thread sound like they sat on the bench in their high school team

but actually, it should be “making NBA all-star vs making the elite pantheon of active rappers” aka your 2chainzs, offsets, drakes or whoever. The ones whose names every person knows. Probably the same number as the number of all stars. But even then, NBA is a bit harder
