Since hip hop culture has been taken control of by the white media since the streaming era started in 2016, they have been using it as a vehicle to push their agendas.

    Think about it:
2016-2018: with acts like Lil Pump, emo rappers, and 69 breaking out. they started branding and pushing lean, X****, pills, fentanyl.

2018-2020: artists like Lil Nas X, Harry Styles (youth culture not so much hip hop) etc. they started branding the LGBT movement and pushing it

2021-2023: the street rappers. They were hard pushing gang banging, owning sticks, and killing your ops. Too many to name.

2023-???: They will find another movement to latch on to, currently waiting for the people to see what’s the new thing they want to hear

Ah yes street rap in its inception circa 2021

op didn’t include it in his post but designer name drops and specific brands of pharmaceuticals definitely increased a lot as we got into the 2010’s

Imo after Ye and Pharrell, Rocky introduced niggas name dropping s*** like Raf and non LV/Gucci/Prada/Versace type designer brands

It organically started out with Rocky (fashion) or Wayne (lean and pills) or whoever just wanting to do that but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were companies who decided to take financial interest in this after like 2015-2017. Lol who knows
