Comparing Kendrick to his peers, I fully understand his impact and I’m not denying that.

Comparing him to past greats? That’s a whole other talking point

Yeah we could talk all day about how/why he’s better than your goat

I know they’re probably cooking you but IMO he’s the closest one and will get there eventually if he continues to put out heat like he is but the only thing he’s missing is a genre bending album like 808s

Facts. I really wanted the rock album rumors to be true. Kendrick would reach a whole new level if he did a rap/rock mash-up

Like as far as rap album perfection goes GKMC is about as close as you can get to it

Besides TPAB which is literal perfection

actually Madvillainy is rap album perfection 🚶🏻‍♂️

    1. Instruments would get you credit for production before songwriting.

    2. Hella writers credited didn't contribute any vocals to the songs

I promise you the members of the INSTRUMENTAL Jazz group BadBadNotGood were not writing lyrics on that album, but they have writing credits.

Yeah because he’s not even close to Kanye. He’s not even top 10 oat

I instantly disregard anybody’s opinion when they say that because they clearly don’t listen to much rap

That's 1 example out of dozens of writers.

You not going to act like every single songwriter on that album only got there 'because they did instrumentals but actually 0 songwriting' lmao.

There’s Ed Sheeran albums on the billboard for decades too my guy

Ed Sheeran generic radio oriented music meant to be played while people do their shopping vs an album with songs that don't work in isolation (according to you) about life in Compton

    GKMC is good not great
There’s plenty of Drake albums on Billboard also

Yall bringing up Drake raises a good point. Why has Kanye singled out Drake as his biggest competition and not Kendrick? Everytime Kanye has an episode Drake gets brought up. He even told Taylor Swift that Drake raps better than him. He's never competing with Kendrick

I think it’s because both of them are pop rap artists at the end of the day. They have very similar backgrounds and make almost the same kind of music up to a certain point. Maybe Ye resented how well Drake was able to connect with women and white people more but again that was Kanye’s fault for not making accessible music AND his controversies lmao

Drake is more similar to Ye than Kendrick would be imo even tho they both played around with the whole “one foot in the conscious rapper pool and one foot in braggadocio” lane when they first blew up.

Plus Drake blew up before Kendrick when Kanye was coming off of 808s and heartbreak so I can see how he viewed Drake as competition.

Ye is also not viewed as the rapper Kendrick is skill wise.

    They do

I'm not gonna go artist by artist with you just for you to then say "well it's mid anyways" it's honestly my fault for ever responding.

Plus I feel like there’s some stuff we don’t know about how maybe the industry wanted Drake to be the next Ye after Taylor Swift. Before that, I feel like Ye was taking Drake under his wing like he was doing with Sean and Cudi. Drake was saying Ye promised to make mad beats for him for TML but instead gave him like 2 songs

I said they usually get production before writing credits, which is true.

They also tend to get songwriting credits despite not writing if they're in the room while the songwriting is happening though.

You claimed he wrote it all on his own then presented it to them separately.

Also kind of f***ed up you're trying to minimize all these ppl contributions to the project so you can pretend Kendrick did it all himself lmao.

Real as hell for OD love that tape is so special to me

Bro that s*** holds a high place for me. Mr. Morale just feels like part 2 of that to me, he was revealing a lot on OD, no concepts just straight bars. It don’t get the love it deserves

Trueee yeah Kendrick and Drake have a weird relationship lol I think Ye would view Kendrick less as competition but more so with his producer brain.

    Easily

Far more impactful, influential, and way better music that I still listen to this day

We have actual evidence of Kendrick writing SZA's parts because the reference track of him doing her parts on All The Stars leaked. But this salty Drake stan is so desperate to drag Kendrick down to his fave's level that he's making up narratives about artists with credits for producing the beats writing for Kendrick 😭 🤣
