Inspiration,passion,talent, skill, and vision
The first 3 are subjective, abstract and indirect
this is the most vague/subjective s*** i've ever seen

I'm not going to write a f***ing book for you. And that's not subjective or vague at all

how do Ariana Grande and One Direction not fit into that criteria then? you said they weren't art right?

I'd love for you to tell me their inspiration or vision
of course it's still art... there's literally no good argument to the contrary
he/she is still expressing themselves - even if it's really shallow/if their mindset is 100% on making a buck. That's their mindset that they're expressing
I'd love for you to tell me their inspiration or vision
idk what kinda answer you want me to give, are they not inspired or have a vision to express themselves through their art?
Not to me.
If it’s made that way, it’s a product not art
so a product can never be art? can I not use your argument to say any art sold for profit is not art anymore?

Hmmm...
Art is in the eye of the beholder, so yes I guess

you just have a very narrow definition of what art is. If you make a song, no matter how shallow or care-free, you made art.

What do they express? How do you express yourself if you don't even create the music?
What are they trying to convey? It's not a complex question I'd say

they had a hand in the process even if they just use their vocals. it's a piece of the art. without them it wouldn't be the final product.
If I thought of a painting in my head and got someone else to paint it for me, would it not be art? would you not give any credit to the person who went and painted it?
The sole pursuit of money has created some amazing piece of art lol.
There's no overarching goal to art, it’s only the representation of someone’s conditions and ideas. The intent behind your creation doesn’t dictate if it’ll then be considerated as art, it actually gives more background and texture to the actual piece.

You would not be the artist so no it would not be your art. Art is the whole process not just bits and pieces.
i assume you like Andy Warhol so our perceptions might have different perceptions on this. He was great at finding talent and innovating. But was not a great artist due to these criteria.
depends on the talent
there's so many great rock records that work because of how shallow they are
