The songs objectively don’t sound repetitive like I don’t understand how you think Alone Again sounds at ALL like Too Late or how either of them sound at all like Snowchild and how any of them sound at all like Scared to Live

“None of the other songs sound like the 3 most unique songs on the album” ok

I’m sorry dawg but After Hours is not a TBAP or MDBTF. There are legitimate criticisms to be made about it and from my posts on this thread it is INCREDIBLY clear that I am not the only other person who holds such an opinion.

The Weeknd doesn’t even made good enough music to f*** the b**** of EVERY person who doesn’t like his album. Sry he’s not A$AP Rocky.

Lmaoo you’re actually delusional I just picked those songs cause your criticism was the first half

How you gonna say blinding lights sounds anything like heartless and how either of them sound like repeat after me or after hours

The “all the songs sound the same” criticism almost always comes from people who listened through an album once and got bored

If you genuinely think the songs sound the same I don’t trust your ears at all because that’s something that you can actually tell is objectively not true

I don’t care if you dislike the album but saying that is just patently untrue

And I don’t care that you went through metacritic reviews and found quotes half from literal random user reviews to back up your point because I can do the exact same to call it a return to Trilogy sound or to call it not remotely similar to Trilogy

    This is a stupid argument

I can create any narrative I want using quotes from random people

    Doesn’t make that narrative true

Like I said above you can create completing conflicting narratives

You don’t understand that I never said my opinion was objective. I just showed that SEVERAL people other than me came to the same conclusion

People ITT acting like I’m the only one with such a “narrative” and it’s just not true. Several other people heard the album and thought it was repetitive. I heard the album and I think it’s repetitive. Don’t really give a f*** what you think. Hit me up in 10 years and let me know if you’re still bumping this dogshit.

But that conclusion is something that objectively is false

You can say lyrics were repetitive and honestly I agree. I like the lyrics he writes which is why it doesn’t bother me but I can absolutely get why you’d feel that way

Sonically however for a genre album there’s no way you can say this album is one dimensional or repetitive. Even the pure pop songs are vastly different - scared to live is modern electro pop, hardest to live has a dnb beat and save your tears is 80s synths

IN MY OPINON Hardest to love, Too Late, Faith, Save Your Tears, and Blinding Lights are all the exact same song. If he only included Blinding Lights on the album, it would’ve had the same artistic effect as including all 5 songs. The drums and synths give off the same vibes and the lyrics give the same message. Which makes the album repetitive TO ME.

MANY other people feel the same way. And they understand that such an opinion is subjective. I don’t understand how you can hold your opinion to be objective truth when others feel the opposite.

Because songs sounding the exact same is not subjective? Subjectivity is liking vs disliking a song

Saying that two songs sound the exact same is something that is actually objective

I just said that the synths and lyrics and drums are all similar ENOUGH that I don't get anything out of hearing all of those songs in succession. If you get something out of hearing 5 songs that sound similar then that's ok; that's subjectivity. I think (SUBJECTIVELY) that the songs are similar enough that it makes them unenjoyable TO ME.
