dude you can reduce anything into anything. i wont say your critique is invalid just deeply uninteresting. especially when youre jocking for graduation which is his most just like everything album that he ever released
It’s actually not a critique though I’m just responding to people saying it’s so unique, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I think it’s one of ye’s best songs in years just didn’t strike me as that unique
As far as Grad I think it’s a too common and lazy take to say it sounds like everything else, nothing sounded like I Wonder or Flashing Lights and nothing really has since, with the combination of samples, synths and strings. Good Life, CTMN and Homecoming are the only songs that really remind me heavily of that era as someone who lived through it. S*** was not sounding like that lol to me it’s a bit more unique that’s all, not even saying it’s better

nah but i wonder and flashing lights are deeply indebted to the slow house stuff coming out in the aughts like it’s influences everywhere. if we’re talking about in the context of him as a global pop super star than a song like on sight is at least as interesting and unprecedented you see what i’m saying

You can make the argument that Can’t Tell Me
nothing is just a Jeezy song with flashy production and ego the way you make an argument that Cone to Life is just a Billy Joel song with auto tune and church elements
Barely sings? We can’t be listening to the same thing lmao he sings from front to back on he track. I know it starts with more of an organ and then switches to piano but still feels like a piano ballad to me, keyboard ballad you could call it
I assumed the parts with the people talking in another language was a sample, the way it’s manipulated and repeated reinforces this, are you saying that’s Sunday Service people or something? Felt very much like an ULB type sample of people worshipping
*barely sings over the piano
It feels like it would be a sample but nothing is credited and it sounds extremely crisp which is rare for samples

Yeah that’s fair about On Site, Come To Life is the one I would strongly debate against, On Site is actually pretty unique I shouldn’t have grouped it together with Come To Life

Whatever it is the song just never hit me like “whoa this is so unique”, I just really liked it
Ye peaked musically with "MBDTF" & his last great solo record was "Yeezus".
No TLOP?

Agreed
At least Ye tries and dares to experiment which gives him a broader palette of sounds to choose from. Always developing
UNLIKE some other mainstream rappers...
Donda is an improvement from ye/JIK era I will say that
YEEZUS and Pablo are different tho
Pablo aint that different. Donda better
He's hit a new level with songs like Come To Life and Jail that people won't be fully appreciated for a few years
I could see come to life being on mbdtf… & it also being one of the better tracks on their

Come To Life easily. Jail... nah
I mean, he already knows that he can create anything that´s being done within the music industry. He also knows that he can create something like MBDTF and get the praise from acclaimed music critics, institutions, etc.
To be fair, I don´t think he gives a f*** anymore what anyone wants which (ironically) is a liberating feeling for him creatively, but also frustrating for us listeners and people working with him.

y'all don't deserve jail fr that song is something else
