It actually shows what it means to be human. You can go from being damn near a deity to being someone that nobody takes serious. And it works both ways.

    True facts

Nobody wants to say it but MJ between the time after HIStory and before his death had a huge fall from grace too.

His public persona took a massive hit due to the allegations and his fallout with Sony.

He was OPENLY getting called Wacko Jacko more than his real name in many mainstream publications and magazines.

His skin condition was getting mocked and made fun of. Ya'll remember that old joke about how America is the only place where a poor Black boy can become a rich White woman?

He was getting blackballed and blacklisted in the industry to the point where he exclusively toured overseas.

He was constantly clowned and disrespected in pop culture. Comedy shows, cartoons, and even artists like Eminem were clowning MJ.

90% of MJ media coverage was straight negative. Even after death, he had the whole Leaving Neverland doc attacking him.

This was the same man who was the best selling solo artist in the world and was the most famous musician ever at his peak.

It was very rough being an MJ fan at one point before he passed and everyone switched up.

My first thoughts was MJ tbh when reading thread title so glad someone said it

The 2000s in general were f***ed up. Janet Jackson was blamed entirely for the Superbowl s***, Britney Spears was turned into a paparazzi freakshow, even Martin Lawrence damn near lost it at one point, then you also had Amy Winehouse issues being treated like a cheap joke. Something was definitely in the water and I didn't like it

Yeah. It's more than likely this.

Kanye has survived endless controversies in the past.

But now he's getting up there in age and is basically a legacy act now. He seems to have a hard time accepting that though.

It's similar to how Nicki Minaj looks worse trying to be the hottest female rapper and doing crazy s*** for attention instead of just naturally letting things flow.

Nah. It might really be Cosby cause Kanye even during the time MBDTF dropped still had plenty of detractors who never forgave him for the VMA situation.

Cosby, however, was America's dad. Nigga was held up as the greatest role model for not just Black America but America in general. The Cosby Show was the BIGGEST show on TV for part of the 1980's.

And he was known for being a clean comedian who hardly cussed too as well as someone who pushed for respectability politics and positive images.

So, to see him go from a clean cut beloved father figure to a serial rapist rotting in jail and thanking Boosie of all people for saying "Free Cosby" on Vlad TV was something nobody saw coming before the 2010's.

You make it sound like its some passive thing that can happen to anybody instead of man crashing out in the most egregious ways for a decade

I don’t know that you can frame something so completely self engineered in this way, his whole career is basically amassing incredible good will & positive momentum + then s***ting all over it on an increasingly dangerous scale

    Bill Cosby,

MJ held a baby over the balcony

After him it’s big Brit. (At her height, Brittney Spears was EVERYWHERE dawg.)

@op just bias cause it’s ye.
