Taylors last 2 albums are on her own label

That's not what I'm saying though. She still released through the label but the label had no idea she was dropping until she announced it. Labels, especially for huge, established artists are not nearly as involved in things as they once were

Kanye's motivation nowadays is the change the world, music is not really that high on the list tbh.

U right tho, except them bums at TDE

Killing. He has great ideas that can be turned into amazing songs but he doesn’t work on them long enough and rushes release dates cause of his episodes.

If he had the same work ethic Ye pre TLOP had , a lot of these songs would be classics tbh

There's an obvious correlation between a decline in the quality of his music (at least according to those who think it has declined) and lack of pressure from outside sources like labels needing to make physical copies, etc. The streaming era has given artists more freedom than ever before, Taylor's label didn't even know she was dropping her most recent album until the day she announced it.

There's no deadline for Kanye other than the release dates that he sets which mean pretty much nothing. A lack of a deadline means a lack of pressure, a lack of pressure means he's free to work as he wants.

there is 100% a decline in the quality of music WW. I dont think that is kanye being a victim of the streaming era tho, but now you said that, i sort of understand your reasoning more.

Because kanye literally dropped 808s in a very short span of time , it proves he just works at whichever rate he wants irregardless .

I also dont think labels have ANY say on quality of music, in fact i think they take away most of the artist's soul and make it rather cookie cutter. The reason music is declining, is because everything is digitalised imo. Digital instruments, effects, nothing is real or produced organically as it was. You dont hear people sampling someone from 2015 now do you?

thats my 2 cents on it

Exactly. Selah would 100% be a masterpiece if he just spent more time fine-tuning it lyrically. As would WUITB. It feels like he catches a vibe all of a sudden and comes up with an amazing idea but then gives up right as he's about to polish the song. It's so frustrating.

you can try use this argument on anything other than JIK. and id probably understand (wolves tlop verse) JIK is him literally trying to shove Jesus in people's faces... you cant expect a lyrically acclaimed album from that

but there are some good, religiously-charged verses on the album, and he's done it before as well. it's just that it's mired by completely garbage and rushed lyrics:

    Switch my, switch my attitude
    I'm so, I'm so radical
All these people mad at dude
This for who it matter to
What if Eve made apple juice?
You gon' do what Adam do?
Or say, "Baby, let's put this back on the tree" 'cause

I agree the lyrics are subpar, compared to what we've had in the past

We had them leaks since 2018, and he changed lines between each iteration. He just chose to have them that simple lol

Question in the title. By "Kanye's style of working" I mean working with a lot of people, many projects at the same time, announcing more stuff than is ultimately delivered, never meeting deadlines etc

    PROS

    • intense, chaotic rollouts
    • occasional drama
    • much input from different people make final product more ecclectic
    • we get excited about stuff from time to time

    CONS

    • Ls wrapped in Ls
    • s***load of leaks
    • frustration
    • potentially lack of willing to live

Making more magic, next question 😎

  • Aug 21, 2020

killing. he doesnt give anything the attention it deserves. you cant be part-time in 5 different things.

Killing. He makes release dates before albums are done and evidently rushes to finish them. He doesn’t give what can be great ideas enough time to breathe and it’s been hurting his music post 2016. Also he has a lot on his plate and his music has suffered because of it.

a lot of those cons are very very subjective

killing. he's always been last-minute with album releases and late, but JIK and ye were so obviously rushed.

    Jesus, flow through us
    Jesus, heal the bruises
    Jesus, clean the music
    Jesus, please use us
    Jesus, please help

Yall don't want Kanye to be religious even tho he's always been

    “PROS:

    • Chaotic rollouts”

I don’t even pay attention to his rollouts simply cause it’s never on point. It’ll come when it comes. It’s honestly a really stupid gimmick at this point.

  • Aug 22, 2020

    It keeps getting worse.

Delayed album releases. I can’t even get excited for anything Kanye related because a song or album will delayed or just scrapped.

  • Aug 22, 2020

Clearly killing. But ultimately the quality of the work after the "rollout" is what shapes our perception. JIK did not live up to the general public opinion or his fans' expectations and it's had an effect on what these messy teases and fake-outs reflect in the music. If Donda is great, then this idea might shift.

nah, I can't excuse it. it's a stretch to even say he's in verse. it literally sounds like he's just talking monotonously into an iPhone mic, laid it over the production, and called it a day. i'd even argue that the song would be better if he wasn't on it.

especially when JIK actually has flashes of some genuinely powerful lyrics here and there, technicality goes out the window.

    Go off king

Tbh he isnt delivering much more projects than Tyler for example and yet their work ethic is completely different.

It's a royal pain in the ass & is completely unnecessary.
